Are we looking at the official production Subaru BRZ in these latest photos ?? The photos are from the January 2012 issue of Road & Track in which they claim these are the official photos of the Subaru BRZ sports coupe.

It certainly looks to be consistent and accurate with the official Subaru BRZ teaser images released by Subaru three weeks ago. If these are indeed official photos, the Subaru BRZ seems to share much more styling with the revealed Scion FR-S / Toyota FT-86 than with the recently debuted Subaru BRZ STI Concept.

This also looks to be a U.S. version of the BRZ, judging by the amber reflectors, the lack of headlight washers, and the reverse lights without the red triangle reflector. In any case, we’ll know soon if this is indeed the BRZ production model as we’ll be bringing you live coverage from the Tokyo Motor Show next week at its reveal!

Toyota has just released this new official trailer teasing the upcoming production Scion FR-S / Toyota FT-86!

This is the first official video from Toyota in which the full production FR-S / FT-86 can be clearly seen and it’s looking even better in live video (even if a short peek) than the previously leaked brochure images.

Toyota Motor Corp. to Hold Simultaneous Promotional Event for Soon-to-be Toyota City, Japan, November 17, 2011— Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) will launch a promotional website for the production prototype of the “FT-86 I Concept”, a new compact rear-wheel-drive sports car, which will premiere at Tokyo Motor Show on December 3 and be shown through December 11.

The website, called “FT-86 Fastest Painted Website“, will go online at 10:00 on November 20, 2011 [now online].

The website will be in sync with an outdoor street painting in front of Shinjuku Station’s East Exit in the Shinjuku Station Square.

A talented group of artists, th 1 Rinpa Eshidan 1, will start the painting at 10:00, November 20, and will gradually flesh it out over 8 hours and 6 minutes. As the painters work, their piece will come to life in real-time as artwork on the fully-functional website.

Together, the speed of these two groups working together will exemplify the speed of the new Toyota sports car. The website will be online until November 26.

We’ve updated our Subaru BRZ STI Concept debut photos and videos thread with two small videos of the BRZ display, showing the movie feature playing above it, as well as a short walkaround to give you some live perspective of the car.

We’re coming to you live from the LA Autoshow where we were one of the very first on hand to see them peel the covers off the Subaru BRZ STI Concept sports coupe! Needless to say it’s a beauty and much more attractive than the initial released renders.

We’ve posted today’s official press release, along with our live photos @ http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2271

Ok so you’ve all seen enough pics on the forums of the leaked FR-S / FT-86 production model already (not really, we know), so how about these sound clips to go with the imagery?! Now you can all stop making fake vroom sounds and getting strange looks from your significant other / roommates 🙂

The sounds featured by German site Spiegel (who have test driven the prototype) include:

– engine startup (from exterior)
– engine startup (from interior)
– starting (from exterior)
– starting (from inside)
– on the test track
– turn signal indicator sound
– seat belt warning sound

Oh yea, and there’s a bonus clip of the Gazoo racer as well!

For a couple of weeks we’ve been posting some of the best parts of the FR-S / FT-86 information manual, but the entire manual has now been revealed for your perusal! Set aside some time though as it’s nearly 40 pages in length.

As an aside, remember that the Subaru BRZ STI Concept will be revealed at the LA Autoshow tomorrow (Nov. 16) and the production versions of the Toyota FT-86 (FR-S) and the Subaru BRZ will be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in just under two weeks. We’ll be bringing you the first live photos and coverage from each event, so stay tuned!!

Swiss magazine Bliche has posted their feedback from a test drive of the prototype FR-S/BRZ and come back with similar impressions as all the previous magazine review (see CAR, Autocar, Motortrend, C/D, Autopista).

They call the seats comfortable and grippy, with a steering wheel which feels good in hand along with a gear shifter reminiscent of the Mazda Miata’s. Overall, the cockpit is properly geared for the driver.

Another interesting note is that they mention a 250hp version is being considered, along with a convertible version (keep in mind these are just speculations/rumors!). Finally, they’ve posted some new looks at the interior, engine bay, and closeups of the headlights and tail lights.
