Cool FR-S / FT-86 test in blick.ch (with new pics)

do we already had this article from Switzerland?

http://www.blick.ch/auto/neuheiten/s...-celica-186716

Google translated text:
Quote:
Project manager Tetsuya Tada had done in the past couple years, all hands. Together with Subaru, Toyota has developed a sports coupe that offers 40,000 francs from affordable driving fun and as an image carrier to serve beyond the hybrid success.

The appearance of the new Celica with a flat front, low roofline and crunchy at the rear can also folienbeklebten prototypes with the project name FT-86 can be seen. "He is even flatter than a Porsche Cayman or a Ferrari 430," Tada notes proudly.

When driving, shows the FT-86, that he can be a real sports car. The seats are contoured closely and comfortably. The steering wheel feels good in the hand and the gear shift is reminiscent of the six-speed joystick for the Mazda MX-5. The cockpit is built around the driver. The speed is displayed digitally and analogue and shines in the middle of the instruments by Porsche-style, a large tachometer.

As for the drive, Toyota refuses to conditions surprisingly timid sports car from the window: the two-liter boxer engine with 200 hp of Subaru but provides a valuable look flat front, but offers no Turbo, the car could lend wings. For now, goes on sale next summer, only this variant planned. But under scrutiny, both a 250-hp version and a roadster.

Is Toyota out of luck?

Nearly half a year after the tsunami and severe nuclear accident in Japan, Toyota once again raises a natural disaster off the track. At present, approximately 150,000 vehicles will not be built because the production is from several suppliers and assembly plants in Thailand under water. This has an impact on production in Japan, where the works are currently busy only 70 to 80%. In addition, Toyota has continued to struggle with the strong yen. Thus the operating profit in the second quarter of the melted end of March 2012 to the current fiscal year by about a third to around 840 million francs.

HUH?

Vorerst ist zum Verkaufsstart im nächsten Sommer nur diese eine Variante geplant. Aber auf dem Prüfstand sind sowohl eine 250-PS-Variante als auch ein Roadster.

HUHUHUHUHUH????

ROADSTER? 250 PS?

Translated, but it's not the best with regards to grammar. Anyone want to post up the pictures? They don't look like anything new though...

Cool! Tetsuya Tada fiddling with the interior. Ugly tapes all over though.

WOW! Thank You!

Love the seatdesign with the "honeycomb oldskool" T´s which are already in the front mesh!

40 000 sfr are about 32 000 €

BUT

future 250 PS ver. on the dynamometer (?)/ test station right now sounds great!

Don't think we've ever had close-up pics of the headlight and taillight until now:

That seems a tad expensive.

Yeah good to know that a drop-top and a more powerful version are planned, assuming that the journalist didn't just make these up on his own.

I hope the 250ps version stays NA somehow but I may be dreaming too much.

Yeah, there's too much uncertainty with the first two model years of this vehicle. I was planning on being a launch buyer, but there has been too many rumors and too many unclear reports. 1.6L engine, 2.0 turbo, 2.5 subie, now this 250PS engine? I think I'll just wait. Put it on my list with the Lexus GS-F I'm waiting for

But then again, why is this the only report that mentions 250ps, among many other media test drive reports we've already seen so far? Makes me think that this is simply yet another piece of made-up info.

With such wildly varying versions of rumors, I bet the truth is that no one outside of Toyobaru really knows and people just make these up because that's what they want to see.

I wouldnt buy into the rumourmill here considering all the wrong info we have heard already ex subie will have more power/ subie will be cheapest

thanks for the close up of the headlights and tail lights. I really dont think they will have clear taillight housing here in NA that is more of a fab in japan than anything IMO

they also mentioned a convertible. and in another article it was mentioned that the chassis was designed with a convertible version in mind. so there is some merit...

im going to get this car regardless, but it just sucks that i may have to trade it in for an upgrade, if this 250hp car turns out to be that much better. if it's tuning related and i can get there with aftermarket parts, then i'm ok with that. but if its a substantial hardware upgrade (like a 2.5L block, or a new head design, or a turbo/sc, etc), then i'd probably have to upgrade....
