It appears that the press embargo on production Subaru BRZ test drive reviews has lifted and we’re now seeing the first drive reviews (all positive) rolling in, along with the first photos of the US-spec BRZ. See links below.

You may ask how the BRZ would drive differently than the FR-S or 86. According to this info, the Subaru springs are firmer in front and softer in the rear than its Toyota/Scion counterparts.

Subaru has posted an awesome first official feature video for the Subaru BRZ GT300 race car (which debuted at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show).

Titled “The Challenge Begins” this video features some great live motion footage of the BRZ GT300 on the track, as well as some behind-the-scenes development footage.

The Subaru BRZ GT300 will represent the company at next year’s Super GT Championship in Japan by racing in the GT300 Class.

A new report by Autocar is that a supercharged version of the Toyota 86 is already under development, by TRD. Chief engineer Tetsuo Tada is said to favor the supercharger approach because it is simpler to achieve than increasing engine size and doesn’t wreck throttle response as turbocharging might. More info INSIDE.

As always, until announced officially by manufacturers, everything remains rumor, so always take it with a grain of salt.

We’ve now posted the FULL SCANS of the press kits accompanying the Toyota 86’s reveal at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.

Perhaps the most interesting page is the one which appears to show several special edition/model 86 variants. Are we looking at design concepts that will never see the light of day, or do these point to possible future special editions or models. Hopefully we’ll find out soon.

Here’s some coverage (courtesy of Speedhunters) of the impressive GReddy modified Scion FR-S which was shown in the official Scion FR-S reveal event last night in LA.

The GReddy FR-S showcased some of the potential aftermarket modifications to come from GReddy (but which we’ll surely also hear from many other aftermarket tuners).

The wheels are lightweight RAYS 19″ wheels and front brakes replaced by 4-pot GReddy calipers. The factory exhaust was replaced by a GReddy twin titanium muffler. And finally, the suspension was improved via GReddy coilovers.
