Subaru will reportedly be showing a version of its BRZ concept car with actual sheetmetal at the upcoming LA Auto Show. However, like the Toyota FT-86 and Scion FR-S concepts before it, the Subaru BRZ concept car will also be exhibiting a ‘concept’ body only (not production intent).
Why? Toyota and Subaru reportedly have an agreement to not show a single production body panel on their concept cars until the cars’ debut at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in December. Frustrating yes, but in any case, it won’t be long now until we see the actual production FT-86/FR-S and BRZ in Tokyo.
The 2011 LA Auto Show takes place from November 18-27 at the LA Convention Center.

Our ever resourceful members have undertaken different methods and processes to estimate certain of the FT-86 II Concept’s dimensions, including relative to a standing person.
Using a see-through side profile image of the FT-86 II Concept posted by Toyota and some analysis/manipulation in Photoshop, our members have come up with a height estimate of approximately 50″. They’ve also illustrated how high the car sits relative to a standing male.
Analysis and illustrations can be seen INSIDE.

Premiering today at the 2011 Frankfurt IAA were both the Subaru BRZ Technology Concept and Toyota FT-86 Concept II at 2011 Frankfurt IAA. [Photos and video in links above]
As expected, no substantive new info was released on either car (the FT-86 concept did receive a new paint job), but the wait for final production model reveals will be coming to an end soon when either or both the Toyota FT-86 and Subaru BRZ production versions will be unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show (in late Nov. / early Dec.).
So hang on for the last few weeks until the debut(s)!

Toyota has just posted this new trailer, teasing the FT-86 II concept which will make an appearance at Frankfurt IAA. We last saw the FT-86 II Concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, but the video shows that it will appear at the Frankfurt IAA in a different color.
Stay tuned next week (Frankfurt IAA starts on the 13th) to see whether it comes with any other changes.

To build up more anticipation for its reveal at the Frankfurt IAA auto show next month, Subaru has released some full sized images (see here) of the graphics used on the Subaru BRZ Technology Concept website.
The most telling part of the photos is just the clear look at the FB engine (the BRZ, FT-86, FRS will be getting a new version of the FB engine with direct injection). The clear body should otherwise be mostly ignored as it’s simply a shell which is being used to display the car’s powerplant, suspension, and chassis. The production BRZ exterior is rumored to have been shown recently and was said to be very different.
Along with these images, Subaru has released exterior dimensions for the BRZ coupe, which will be:
165 inch length
69.7 inch width
50 inch height
101 inch wheelbase
See the new Subaru BRZ teaser images HERE.
