Just installed the red one (in my scion fr-s)...its not that much noticeable...i did pay $40 for the pack, don't think it was worth it to be honest. I'm actually probably going to try and sell the other colors to make some money back

Installed blue "quiet" one today. Not much noticeable difference at low revs but much quieter at high revs.

I love it. Makes the engine sound much more natural. It's not like the 86 is so soundproofed you need the engine amplified beyond the usual.

Would have been much better if the sound changer went in the upper elbow join and then had a straight pipe into the firewall. That way if wouldn't be so damn difficult to get your hand through to pop it out and back into the firewall grommet.

Super simple install. The hardest part was getting the changer out of the tube. Finding it and pulling out/putting it in the firewall was trivial.

So far, I like the blue a lot. It makes the cabin noise much more consistent and doesn't overpower the stereo any more. I have to wonder if there is any purpose to the rest of that hose that comes off the intake or if that could just be removed all together.

Yes, the extra bits can be removed.

See the below thread that covers other stuff as well but has a section on removing the piping all together and blocking it off at the start point.

Saw another pic of it somewhere too capped off but can't find it.

On the pulling out - agreed, easy in a LHD car but in RHD a bot more difficult to get your hand to it.

Great. $17 wasted on the blue changer when I could have spent $5ish and got rid of it all together.

Yep, and from the other post I have seen on here you can make the loud red one by simply removing all the foam and stuff out of the stock one.

If removing it all together you may want to put a solid grommet into where it slots into the firewall.

Thanks to nzer I managed to get a red TRD sound tube.

My observation is that it is just a hollow tube. Save your money and just modify your stock one as mentioned in the previous post.

Haven't taken the car for a drive yet so can't comment on noise.

All I can say is that THIS IS A PAIN to install for anyone with a RHD car. You either have to have puny hands or take parts off to be able to put the sound changer back in.

The below advice is mainly for RHD vehicles:
If you find that it's too loud, instead of changing it back over, it is much easier to simply move the carpet, access it from the interior and stuff it full of foam or just seal it up all together. Interior access is easy, engine bay access is a pain.

Quick question... You mentioned to just pull the sound tube out from the firewall. Is it really that easy? Just pull it out? Wanted to double check before I pull it out and damage it. Does it just snap back in?
