My 13 10series was brought in for the TSB fix when the car has about 5000 miles. The same ticking noise goes away for a little over one year. I heard the noise but in totally random road condition. When the weather is warm, 70F or hotter, the noise comes more frequently. I brought the car, with the back seat down, to the dealer last year when it's warm enough to replicate the sound. When they started to look into it, the temperature dropped to sub 50F (typical in San Francisco area). The technician says it's my license plate and frame. He put some tape on the back of the license plate. I test drove the car and really can't hear the noise. The next morning, with the back seat up, I can hear the ticking sound again... I decided to live with it because it's hardly noticeable when the music is loud enough. El Nino changed my mind. I heard the noise too often nowadays as the weather gets warmer. I will go to the dealer again on Wednesday. I may request them to do some welding if they find out it's the rear deck that ticks.

Rear Deck Rattle

I haven't read any post in the thread yet, but lately I got a weird rattle from the area. After careful inspection I found out that my rear window tint was coming off on the edge & it was touching the B-pillar & would cause the 2 bottom piece of the plastic piece on the B-pillar to vibrate with it....>___> not joking

Just something I figure I can share with others.

Did you try this? Fixed my random ticking/clicking noise.

The tab holds some little box thing that rattles if this is loose.

Hey, I couldn't find the rattle section so I'm posting here. MyFR-S has a really annoying high pitch squeak coming from drivers side somewhere. Has anyone else had this issue. It literally sounds like a mouse squeaking. It happens randomly and it's defiantly interior. Mostly heard obviously on rumbly roads and then sometimes there isn't a noise.

hello I've just looked into the noises coming from my trunk.
did the whole "cracking", "bending tabs" etc. none of them seemed to resolve the issue. but while I was fiddling around with them I realized that the plastic (marked with red below) moves around too much.
after I removed the top portion for "cracking" this was more exposed and moving it around with my hand resulting in the annoying noise I've been hearing. I've placed a strip of foam behind it and now the noise is gone...

XtremeMaC, thank you for the details and the image, super helpful. I had previously tried to put some foam up in there but didn't do a great job, so I will revisit that and see if I can have more success based on what you said. Is it necessary to get the whole rear shelf off in order to get the foam in the right position?

Just wanna say another thing since all the video has the chair folded down. It's suppose to have some noise when you put that chair down...>..> put it up. I can hear my chassis or suspension flex with the chair down drive over stuff.

True, but the noise/rattle I've been experiencing happens equally with both configurations. It's not just regular good ol' flexing, unfortunately. The only reason I did shot the videos with the seats down is because the dealer thought it was because the rear seats weren't latched.

Third dealership was the charm! For anybody who may be experiencing similar issues, this was the problem: The noise that sounded like it was coming from the rear deck was actually coming from the headliner B-pillar area. There were two pieces of metal that had started to rub against each other somehow, and had worn away three different spots. This rubbing creating the metallic clicking sound that you can hear in the video.
