Rear Deck Rattle from Sub Install

I installed a 10inch sub in the trunk a week ago and the rattle from the rear deck (mainly when the rear seats are up) is killing me. I searched throughout these forums and done the small tricks to try to deal with such as this one:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68048

And the trick in post 6:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31147

The trick in post 6 seems to made the most difference but went away after a day. I don't know if when the interior of the car gets hot, if things become more pliable and that trick becomes ineffective or what.

The next step is to dynamat the rear deck, which I didn't really feel like doing. So my question is, is there anything else to try besides dynamating the rear deck? And if I do dynamat the rear deck, will that solve my problems?

Surprised that you're surprised? The amount a 10" moves air with power is well a ton.. lol. MLV and thermo absorption is best. Dynomat is ok but there are far superior products now. Check out Zeronoise.com and you'll see what I mean.

Anyhow entire underside rear deck. Trunk/boot bottom, complete underside including tub of spare tire cavity, rear sides, cavities under rear seats etc all will help immensely. I'm driving over 800 watts to two rear subs nothing rattles. Yes it's a pay to play game when it comes to adding stereo. Approx 350-400 of MLV + compression matting to properly deaden the vibes and reduce road noise dramatically that and 8-12 hours of my time but IMO was worth it.

I'm trying to fix my rattles too. I'm running 1000 watts to a single 12 and I have a ton of rattles coming from the rear. I did the post 6 fix but I need to figure out what to do beyond that. I keep the gain low 75% of the time, but some times I do like to turn the bass up for certain songs.

Dynamat. You could use fatmat, an alternative. I used it for the first time and it got rid of my rattles well. It smells for the first couple of weeks though

Does that go on the rear deck or the metal frame for the rear deck?

Really just the metal frame, it's meant to change the resonance of the metal. I put it on the deck too, at least the plastic parts of it.

Before applying Dynamat to the rear deck (which will make a huge improvement), try this:

Worked great for me, its free, and it takes 30 seconds!
