The pedal travel is moved lower. The engagement point relative to pedal movement from its resting point remains the same. Before and after the mod, you disengage the clutch by pushing all the way down. There's a lot less distance to travel for the mod. Then you engage by lifting all the way off. Again, a lot less distance to travel. Unfortunately both ways are imperfect. I want the engagement point moved down while still having some freeplay above the engagement point. I'd also like a quicker engagement, but there's supposedly delay valves built into the master and slave cylinders. I have a lot of trouble driving smoothly as i have to engage so slowly.

Me too, but it's mainly 1st to 2nd. All other gears are good.

we learned this... the hard way

did make the car smoother to shift... until the pedal didn't spring back.

Sorry to revive this, but I just removed the helper spring on the clutch on top of already having my pedal adjusted from before -- HUGE difference, feels like a real clutch now. The grabbing point is a little higher, so I adjusted it to be even lower. Several people have removed these helper springs from other forums/cars, no issues from what I've researched. Can't imagine it doing any damage to ours.

I still need to do this but I just haven't had any time. I don't want to screw anything up and have it basically riding the clutch.

You won't ride the clutch at all, it's a minor adjustment. The problem you may have is a pedal that wont return if you adjust the grab point down near the floor. Simple to return it back, I can help you if you're local to Sunnyvale/SJ

This is one of the easiest modifications there is. I've driven the car about a year with it -- no clutch burns nothing. Biting point moved and am VERY happy with it -- though I didn't do much of an adjustment to the clutch, just about 1-2mm above the brake pedal, I didn't need it that low.

I'll try doing it when I have a free weekend, been very busy after just getting married. I'm in the East Bay area but I can most definitely make it out to Sunnyvale/SJ. Thanks for the offer for help, I may hit you up on that if I run into issues.

I'll do it for free, I even keep the necessary wrench in my trunk at all times... I can just do it at the meet you've got planned on the 16th, or if you wanna drive to Davis before then I can do it just about any weekday after 4 pm. Actually today I'm driving to Carmichael after work so I could even meet you somewhere if you'd like, as long as it's not too far off the beaten path. PM me if you're interested.

Same goes to any of you in the Sac area who need this done.

Sounds good, no compensation needed but I'm not one to turn down a bubble tea
