Clutch Pedal Adjustment?
Did you Bay Area people do your clutch pedal adjustment yet? I'm thinking of offering it as a service. I've been under there five times so far to get it right. It's getting to be second nature.
|
I attempted to do it once, but found the 14mm (or was it 13mm) wrench I had was too long to let me do it... then I decided to leave it be and learn to shift/clutch with it as it was... the higher engagement point lets me just quickly stab the clutch when making shifts, in theory making the shifts faster.
But yeah climbing down there is a bit awkward... I almost got stuck down there and took some effort to get myself back out. |
The $7.99 metric set from Sears just barely fits there. A shorty would make it much easier. 12mm for the clutch and 14mm for the sensor. I find it 1000 times easier to shift now. It's unbelievable. I did have it a bit low at first, so I just moved it up. When it was too low, shifting into reverse was hard when cold. Now, a little bit below the brake, it all works great.

I keep adjusting and readjusting, trying to find the perfect spot. I think I have now. If you go to low, the pedal will not spring back fully into position. I've now set the pedal exactly at the lowest point where it will still spring back.

want! How about I buy you a 6 pack

I am not such an easy date! Instead, buy me one of these or one of these (or any super short 12mm) to make the job easier. Also bring something like these (notice 3/8" thick... 1/4" may work, about 10mm diameter, and self-adhesive) to make adjusting the sensor a snap. Then you've got a deal.
My stinky socks may also hit your ceiling, just a warning. |
I think we might have a date.. Gimme some time though.. I may get a little lazy, but I wanna try this out! Will pm you, thanks much!

Why would you want the engage point lower? Then it just takes longer to shift gears... :(
Can someone explain? |

I'm coming from driving a celica and the celica's shifting feels way more natural as it's pedals are lower and biting point is lower. If this adjustments makes it feel like the clutch engagement is lower than the previous point, it should shift the same way, just engage at a lower point. Right now my left leg lifts way too high when I shift and it's caused me to stall my car more than I want (which is anywhere above 0). |

Even with the slow disengaging I'm still lifting my foot off way too far and the engagement point is way too high for me to be comfortable and the car hesitates in shifting. |

Thanks. |
