Our Subaru BRZ real life spottings forum thread has already brought lots of first sightings, and we now see a White Subaru BRZ for the first time.

A matte white BRZ was shown at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show, but this is the first production white (gloss) color we’ve seen for the Subaru BRZ.

It’s been a while since the first press drives for the Scion FRS, Toyota 86/GT86 and Subaru BRZ, but the superlatives for the cars continue to roll in. In Top Gear online’s latest updated Toyota GT 86 review, it calls the Toyota GT 86 “one of the best driving sports cars of the last decade.”

A commercial for the Scion FR-S was recently underway and the folks at Scion have been sharing some images from the shoot on the internet. The driver behind the FR-S? None other than Ken Gushi, the poster boy for the FR-S and who will be driving for the Scion Racing team in the Scion-GReddy FR-S drift car in 2012.

The Subaru BRZ in red and gray/grey colors have been seen for the first time. Until now, we’ve only had the pleasure of seeing the BRZ in blue, black, and silver.

The first dyno test results of the Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S are in. HKS strapped an 86 to their dyno and were able to put down 172 PS, or approximately 170 rwhp!

This represents an impressive 15% drivetrain loss, based on the officially quoted HP figure of 200 hp.

The Toyota 86 price sheet for the Japanese market has been posted on our forums. The prices range from just under 2 million yen to just under 3 million yen.

Three models are shown – the RC, G, and GT. The RC model is the stripped down model (steel wheels, unpainted front/rear bumpers).

How telling are these JDM prices for the reset of the world’s markets? Not very much so. For example, the same cars sold in the JDM and US market, are always cheaper in the US. And there is not set formula or conversion to discount the JDM price to come up with an precise US price. Much of it depends on market conditions, currency conversion rates, target profit margin in particular market, etc.

The first look at the JDM Subaru BRZ brochure has now been scanned and posted. Although these scans don’t show the entire catalog, it does show four very telling pages (now updated to 8 pages), including colors, different the different models (the S, R, and RA) and how differently they are configured.

The S model = “Special Grade, R model = “Basic Grade” and RA model = “Customize Grade”.

According to this report from site member AVOturboworld’s Japan office, who has just had conversations with Subaru of Japan and Toyota of Japan, the pre-order numbers for the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 are already very impressive.

The “unofficial semi-official” numbers as of the January 18th have the Subaru BRZ at 5000 pre-ordered, and the Toyota 86 at 8000 pre-ordered. Anybody in Japan trying to order either the Subaru or Toyota will have to wait till August now.

If these figures are accurate, all we have to say is WOAH!
