OFT questions

I'm about to get an OFT at the shop today, and I have some questions about it. Like, how do you go from stage 1 to stage 2? Can you go straight to stage 2 after on stage 1? And for example, I'm running 1320 headers right now. If I want to switch to Nameless headers later on, would I have to re-tune? And how would I do that?

Sorry for newbie questions.

If you already have a header, you don't need to go stage 1 at all. You can go straight from stock to stage 2.

The OFT will come with five common maps loaded already, one of which should be 91 Octane UEL Stage 2. The actual flashing process is pretty simple, and the device walks you through it. OpenFlash also has a youtube video on their site at http://www.openflashtablet.com/shop/oft-frs-brz-gt86/. Watch the video a few times first.

Is the Nameless header also UEL? Then the same map will apply. If it's EL, you'll need an EL map. Additional maps can be found on OpenFlash Manager, which is software you can install on your computer. OFM is also useful for updating your tablet.

Open Flash Tablet tunes are really just base tunes. They are not going to be header specific except for EL and UEL. The rest is up to you if you want to take is further.

No. Just flash the tune you want to switch to. Remember, Stage 1 is for catted headers and Stage 2 is for catless headers. You didn't mention that in your earlier posts...or maybe you did.

Is that really the difference? I thought Stage 1 was for stock headers, and Stage 2 was for aftermarket headers (regardless of catted or catless), with the necessary EL or UEL variations therein.

I'm wondering too. I just picked up the OFT, and just went for stage 2 UEL 91 oct. Going to get E85 tomorrow, since it's only 11 miles away from me. Sadly there's no 93 in CA..

Yup, stage 2 is for catless. Everything is tuned for the less restrictive environment.

If you have the stock header (catted EL), you can run Stage 2 E85 EL according to @steve99

"Rough guide OTS Map Requirements:

Stage 1- For vehicles equipped with original header. Other exhaust modifications also compatible. Stock airbox (with or without aftermarket drop-in panel filter) also recommend. Premium grade fuel or fuel as specified by tune.

Stage 2- For vehicles equipped with aftermarket cat-less headers. Other exhaust modifications also compatible. Stock airbox (with or without aftermarket drop-in panel filter) also recommend. Premium grade fuel or fuel as specified by tune

91 (USA) octane or better required for 91 octane tunes
93 (USA) octane or better required for 93 octane tunes

Its ok to use a higher octane than specified by the tune but not a good idea to use a lower octane fuel than specified by the tune.

E85 required for tunes labeled E85 (ie fuel with 60 to 90% ethanol content)

Exception for Stock cars running E85 use Stage 2 E85 EL header tune" http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67310
