Running lean ? Maybe ?

So I got revwork headers put in, still waiting to buy a oft for the tune and take advantage of everything. For the last week or so Ive been hearing burbling and pops from my echaust. Usally in 2nd or 3rd gear. Have a cat back put on with stock front pipe. Today I put in a K & N filter. Not sure if i put it in right gonna go to my mechanic to double check but now the pops and burbles are louder and are almost on command in 2nd or 3rd. I know backfire is a sign of running lean. Can anyone help me? I dont wanna blow my engine.

Get Torque Pro from the app store and a bluetooth OBD2 port reader. Then tell us what your AFR is at WOT.

When you tune, you NEED to monitor AFR

If your engine is making those noises, it's already on its way out. I'd suggest you get your mechanic to tear down the engine and see if it's salvageable at this point.

Oh yeah, your motor is really beyond help if its popping and burbling.

Should have got a tune first, remember it is all in the tune how long your motor lasts when you start modifying.

SUPER SERIAL, DO NOT DRIVE UNTIL IT HAS BEEN CHECKED OUT!!! You'll just regret it if you cause more damage, but the damage may have already been done

Obviously the 02 sensors are not reading correctly and neither is the MAF. You have changed all the air coming in and exiting the motor. It isn't responding correctly. Plus the K&N oil just coats the MAF sensor and usually breaks it! You said you may have not installed the air filter correctly either!?!?! Poor car.

You are going WOT in this car!?!? JFC.... Its a goner for sure. Make sure to listen for knocking noises, and loud chirping sounds from your engine bay.
