My car wouldn't start this morning, it wasn't cold either. It seemed to just go into accessories mode, and clutch was in, neutral'd and handbrake up, 1600KM on the odometer.

Then all I did was push the lock and open button on my keyfob, and tried again and it fired up. I'm wondering if it was the signal from my keyfob to the system, maybe it didn't recognize my keyfob was nearby? But then I shouldn't be able to go into accessories mode. Weird :s

I plan to instal a fullblown turbo kit in the near future which would completely void any remaining warranty anyway.
Call Scion Canada!

I had issues with my Dealer in Cgy, once while purchasing and once while dealing with an issue, both times the dealers attitude changed after head office called them!

Food for thought

sorry to hear this happened, they seemed like some pretty nice people when i bought my car but money talks i guess.

i know i'm due for my first oil change (which is free) i've been tempted to do it myself but i kinda wanted to keep the warranty intact for just a bit longer haha.

and like Bu-Tang said when dealerships get calls from head office they kiss ass after that. i know from past experiences

Is there a time limit on the immobilizer after unlocking? A relative of mine has a 993 911 and if you don't start it within a certain amount of time after unlocking it the immobilizer cuts in and you have to lock/unlock to get it to crank.

Good question, I'll test this tonight. I didn't know there was such a thing, I'm sure I tried starting it within 3 minutes though since I usually start the engine and let it sit for about a minute before I head out to work.

I know for sure the 993 immobilizer works like this by design, but I have no idea if there's anything similar in the BRZ's.

I know I can unlock my car and wait 15+ minutes before starting it and it'll start fine, but I don't have a push button start so they may behave differently.

I did try this morning, I only waited for about 2-3 minutes though and it was fine starting up. I'll have to do another test later tonight totally forgot yesterday. I do remember when I tried to start the engine, there wasn't that cranking sound like it's trying to start the engine, just went straight to power on the accessories.

^^ That's exactly what the 993's do. It won't crank at all, as if you hadn't turned the key past ACC.
