You don't have to say what the flaw is, but you could suggest steps to take that will make the car more secure for honest owners.

It was my attempt to keep the issue more private as I haven't seen anything related to it through google searches. A couple of messages that I got indicated that this is a kinda known issue with the keys and thieves already take advantage of it.

Doesn't hurt to use the remote close to the car then just check by pulling on the handle to be sure it's secure. Got in the habit of doing this 20+ years ago when remotes first came out - they weren't too reliable back then and I never trusted them.
'Course this 'old fashoined' method probably won't work with a BRZ. These days the manufacturers do everything they can to take human interaction out of the cars.

![]() Anyway, back to the OP - I'm pretty OCD about locking my cars - I always wait for an audible or visual confirmation before walking out of range. I don't consider this a major security problem. Thanks for the heads up though, like it was said, makes for an annoying prank if you want to harass other Toyota/Scion drivers! |

I'm glad you started this thread OP, as I noticed this key fob issue when I had to rent a Toyota Yaris last week. Attempting to lock/unlock both cars (FR-S & Yaris) simultaneously, nothing happened. Although it might seem like a security flaw, the chances of this happening are very slim. However, there is no denying the signal interference you have multiple Toyota key fobs operating within the vicinity.
