Thanks. I was really on the fence about posting the issue for this reason. I decided to delete it.

Good idea. Post it up, decide not to tell Scion Corporate, and then delete it so we can't tell Scion ourselves. You sure are an invaluable member of this community...

Who said I wasn't going to call scion? You can always PM me and I'll send you exactly what I deleted.

I always lock from my door handle. The tactility feels more assuring than "hoping" it locks remotely plus saves the battery on my remote key. But whenever I've used remote lock on other cars I'd always listen for the sound or look for the lights to flash indicating it's locked. Just common sense. I kind of remember my cars not locking sometimes unless I retried... might've been that security flaw at work. But again, this would never be an issue if you use common sense and develop the habit of confirming it's locked.

Who would you contact?

Edit: I decided to delete my update identifying the problem as I don't really want anyone (thieves) to find out about it. If you would like to know what the issue is PM me
Shoot an email to Scion corporate and cc it to Subaru America, the nhtsa (fed. safety for cars), and the fcc (they regulate transmitters like this).

I always watch my car for the lights to flash before I walk away, but there are some people that rely on technology way to much. This is more of a PSA at this point.

I emailed nhtsa and scion. I haven't checked if this effects the subaru keys or not (are they the same as the scion/toyota keys?). Who should I contant from fcc? Just one of the commissioners?

If someone can see if this also works withs Subaru's I'd appreciate it. For now I am only aware of this affecting scion/toyotas.

The consumer/governmental affairs at the fcc would probably be a good sector to notify...
