What air and oil filters are you using? Hopefully the silicon is still from break-in because it typically drops a little more quickly. -Dennis |

I still have the original air filter in which is made by Toyota. I checked it a few times and knocked out a couple bugs but it's still white. It looks like an industrial HEPA filter compared to most stock ones! I'm using the Subaru stock oil filter which is the black wide one by Tokyo roki. |

I also had the third fill from the dealer ... I guess we will find out
I'm at 19k miles now, and plan on using my third free change at 22.5k miles Then I will need to decide what oil to use after Original air filter and oem Subaru black oil filter since new |

RL - You're doing your own oil changes, right? Note the difference in viscosity with Jeff's uoa. 9.3 cst's @ 100C is where a 30 weight begins. Some oils do thin out with use and then thicken back up again and could be what happened here. This is something noticeable if you do several uoa's on the same oil over the entire interval.
I would probably try to keep the intervals at just under 7,500 miles, despite what Blackstone says. -Dennis |

I was pretty dead set on using Sustina for my first change, but I'm leaning more and more towards just using the Subie Idemitsu, especially after seeing some of these UOAs. I still think the Eneos is top notch, but being as my driving habits are somewhat on the "reserved" side, and that I plan on 5K drains, I might as well save the $30 while still keeping a great quality fill.

How much does the factory fill run on the regular anyway? Maybe I'll give it a try. Might as well try different oils and see what I like.

Guys, I've never changed my oil before, and my car just hit 7500. Changing it will be easy enough, but what oil/filter do I buy? I live in VA
