JL Audio Prototype Stealth Box

I'm about 90% in. I am curious between this and the dealer installed accessory (that obviously isn't ready yet), doesn't the accessory include the amp? And doesn't the accessory sub just plug into a wiring harness in the trunk? Also how will either of these sub boxes be affected by a rear strut bar (being that I have the Cusco bar installed now and am considering the HKS Kansai bar which I believe hides under the trunk flooring)?

This thread inspired me. I really loved this speaker but I thought it was so damn pretty I that it should be showcased instead of hidden (stealth). I know that's the whole point of the stealth box and it's certainly for some people.

So what are the real world prices on this thing? As an old time dealer of kicker, alpine, mtx, and some others, I'm going to guess these might cost the dealers 170-200. Think we can get them for around 300? I'd actually buy one at that I think.

dealer cost will be above 200 i promise you that, JL pricing is a little different than most brands.

Yeah, I've had a few conversations with Andy and Joseph, their regional distro manager, a few years back. JL is unfortunately stuck on dealer sales, makes them very hard to deal with when you are independent. That's the number one reason I avoid them.

They are one of the worst at over pricing gear, and if they would just sell through authorized dealers on the web at a reasonable markup, they wouldn't loose any business, they'd increase sales.

People go to pro installers because they can't do it themselves. For those of us that can, they simply hurt their reputation and sales figures.

Of course, most car audio manufacturers suffer from this myopic view of the world. They don't realize folks like me end up buying used on audio forums and ebay, which is LOOSING them money.

So I just got quoted $1250 to get one in Aus.... Anyone have any idea what it would cost to get one shipped here?

I'd be shocked if it was more than $200. $1250 is a complete rip-off and shows just how disinterested car audio distributors have become in keeping their industry alive.
I'm hoping there'll be a group buy and us folks overseas can use something like shipito.com

$1250 is the Aus RRP. Still will be no where near as cheap as importing even with a discount, so hopefully we can get someone to do it for us.

Count me as excited for possible group buy pricing. $600 is approaching reasonable for this box and sub, so below that would be great.

There's 0% chance it will be 200 or less. The sub alone almost goes for that. You will be lucky to get the group buy in at less that 500/person.

200$ for any kind of box and sub is gonna limit you to a bottom tier sub in a prefab sealed box.

I think Redmist was talking about $200 for shipping to Oz. I know i can get 10% off msrp already, hoping to get a little more so pm me if you guys are serious.
