the install is easy actually, if done right

no harm

tho, as much as I love to mod my car, and I am a patron of Perrins other kit, neither of my cars will get a lightweight pulley. I'm stubborn like that.

Lighter flywheel yes, and even that, I will likely go with the heaviest lightweight I can find..

I understand the reasons why. And if this wasn't a flat 4 I wouldn't have done it myself.. The quality of the pulley is nice, better then the junk they sell for my air cooled nettle engine, but it's ran a light weight pulley for tens of thousands of miles, and after reading up on the engines, I personally felt safe to run one... That said.. Being and auto, I didn't notice a bit of difference, I just barely felt a bit of difference with the intake and exhaust.. Nothing like the people that talk about it.. Making it sound like its gained 20 hp, but again, being an auto it does mask some of the power gains... I'll be at the evasive dyno day next month.. See what it puts down

I'll be there too. It'll be interesting to see if all of this $$$ we've spent actually gives us some HP on our ATs.

Didn't notice any difference on my auto either, not a part I usually recommend for auto guys I'm pretty sure I felt more difference with a drop in filter.

Wow that turned ugly there for a few posts.

I am with the other two guys now...as experienced as I may think I am working on cars the boxer motor is not in my comfort zone. Reading this makes me think twice about buying a pulley kit. I'll have to ask if my dealer would install this item for me. Since they are not underdriven warrenty shouldn't be an issue.

Its not dampened so warranty mroe than likely will be an issue.

I hear lightweight pulleys throw off the balance of the engine (if it comes with a harmonic balancer) so I don't see the dealer installing them and allowing you to keep your warranty. Not dissing on the pulleys seeing as I have lightweight pulleys installed on my jetta. Probably one of the easiest mods I have done to my car. IDK how much different the boxer engine is but if it's about the same then my advice would be, if you can't even install a new pulley without messing something up and trying to make the dealer pay for your mistake I would stop doing your own mods from now on OP.

Tbh I you aren't comfortable doing this install then let someone who knows what they are doing install it. The reason this failed was improper installation. This should not reflect upon the quality of this product. Perrin knows what they are doing. About the part swapping debate here's my 2 cents. Only swap out parts if it might be questioned about affecting warranty work. If you caused the problem though you should hold yourself responsible. No reason to be denied warranty work because you had an aftermarket part on that has nothing to do with the problem.

Legitimately humorous.

You know I'm really disappointed in some of the people on this forum. I expected support from the people that share the love for there cars and some of you are just plain assholes. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as most ppl on this forum and some of us are still learning things. I learned that sometimes things go wrong with simple installs. I really hope if anything ever happens to your car you get support instead of other assholes like you. However I do know there are quite a few ppl that are supportive on here and I am greatful for that. Let me say thank you to those of you who are not pricks
As for the car the dealership has it right now. They are going to replace the seal and some other things the guy told me about as well as filing down the key a little because it got a burr on it. I will update when I have more info.

That sucks man. I've had my pulley on for 4000 miles and have had no issues. Try checking the balance of the Perrin pulley, they could have gotten a bad stock of aluminum.

Seriously? People thanked this post?

Are you kidding me? Not only is he accusing the entirety of the forum of being fraudulent scum bags, he also seems to think that bad base material makes for bad machining and can cause the factory part that was removed to simultaneously be bad also in the same manner.

Hops- I have to agree with you. I have hardly any knowledge about cars, and when I ask a question, many times the responses I get are filled with smart ass answers.
