Did you remove the headlight to do this or was it still on the car?

push your longest skinniest finger in the hole where you pulled out the bulb. On the inderside ofthe hole inside there is a light gauge metal plate that is horizontal (like a table) underneath. Bend it all the way down with your finger.

Or, take your front bumper apart and bake open your headlights and install HID projectors like some people tell me MUST be done.

Still waiting for more input on that topic here....

Hey there boy, looks like one of the very few Newfs on the forum. I am guessing you are in St John's.

Maybe you can drive the Targa Newfoundland route some time. Just not like the Bozo from Alberta who put a million $ Ferrari in the drink back in 2011.

I've participated for the last two years! I was navigating in 2011, and driving in 2012. The nearest track is in Nova Scotia which is lots of driving and an expensive ferry ride away, so I've got to take what I can get. Targa really is an amazing way to spend a week out of the year.

I plan on prjectors eventually and plan on blacking them out at the same time. But I won HIDs at the last meet so I figured I would just install and bend the squirrel finder as a temp thing. Seems like the frs projectors take them relatively good. Thanks for the info

You must get a bit of attention with that car. Couldn't be more that a few in the province at this point I'd bet.

No track in the whole province eh? We at least you got plenty of long roads!! Not worth leaving the province for sure.

I took apart my headlights and installed HID projectors.

It takes minimal effort and I am sure most people do care whether they are creating light pollution for other drivers.

If you shine your lights against the wall at night compared to mine, you will see mine throw almost zero light above the cutoff whereas yours have rectangular projections above the left and right side. This can be viewed as indirect but still harsh light off an HID bulb to oncoming traffic. Bending down the squirrel finder took 2 seconds and took away that projection.

The projector still might not be perfect for throwing 35W HID light, I don't know. That's why I am asking in this thread.

using the table as an analogy, do you bend it so that the table top would be leaning to front or rear of the car? and how many millimeters do you tilt? sorry if this is hard to understand

When you stick an index finger in the hole you will feel the squirrel finder at the bottom. If you push it down with your finger tip it will bend down in the direction of the front of the car. Takes minimal effort and bend it as far as it will go.

Sorry I cant take a decent pic AFAIK as the car is garaged for the winter now and my garage is packed with junk against all the walls. I used the wall of a school nearby to check the cutoff and also parked the FR-S with the lights on and passed/approached/drove away from it with my other vehicle to see if I could catch some unacceptable harsh glare. I didn't find it "off the scale".

See all that mess above your cutoff line? the squirrel finders bounce light upwards from the projector.. into the eyes of oncoming cars. Its okay when using halogen bulbs but not HID bulbs.
