I don't know how he did it, maybe because the spring is lower the part of the strut that would hit the rim is below it now?

thank you
I'm running the stock tires on my Rota Torque 17x9.0 wheels and the stretch of the tires is pretty extreme, but still works. The stock wheels are 17x7.0 (17" diameter, 7" width) and you could buy 17x7.5, 17x8.0, 17x8.5 or 17x9.0 and still run your stock tires. The wider the wheel, the more angled the sidewall of the tire will be, though.

Check this topic:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7535

Scroll down to the Drag Wheel section and there is a link to the DR-34 in 17x7.5.

Hope that helps.

Basically I want this:

Since I have a Raven and a full TRD kit on already, this is pretty much the exact look I am going for.

Now, from the source of this pic, I get the sense that these are 18 x 9.5 (but the offset is +45 all around)

I am hearing conflicting things from different vendors as well (apparently the +40 offset is for the US market and the black edition is a standard color, whereas for the +45 the pressed graphite is a standard color)

I am trying to stay away from the murdered look and that is why I'd really want the pressed graphite finish instead. Since I am still on stock suspension (waiting for Eibach to release the multi pro R1s) I guess I cant really run these wheels as they will hit the stock spring perches

i honestly have no clue. i'm gonna have to do some inner measuring and/or contact wheeldude. seems people have problems with much narrower tires so idk how this is possible, but he did it without any mods of any sort. it's not like there's any crazy amount of camber being used either...

Color combo will look great, but be careful with the tire size... 255/35 is already a pretty thin sidewall(for a spring drop)... and if u do a 245/35 you're gonna have a ton of wheel gap

@WheelDude.com managed 18x9.5 + 38 all around. I think it was Rota's with 255 tires.

only lowering springs were used to it shouldn't be an issue.

the question is what tire size to use. I am leaning towards 245/40 or 245/35. 255 is simply more tire than I want to run.

+48 vs +35 on almost stock sizes

if i end up swapping my stockers for 17x7.5 or 17x8 ....

what are the disadvantages or issues with running something other than the stock 45/48 offset wheels ?

there must be a reason Toyota/Scion didnt make the stock ones 35's .. but im just guessing now.

Im about to pull the trigger on some aftermarket wheels -- in the 17's -- but want to make sure i understand the issues behind changing the offset all the way around and making it 'poke' out slightly.

thx

I am not an expert.

I went with 17x7.5 +40 wheels with stock tires, a conservative setup. The wheel flushes out much better than stock. I am planning on switching the stock tires to some 235/40's.

Out of the two specs you have listed, 17 x 8 +35 will fit nice.
