Phone calls are fine. The only issue I have is, When I use Spotify/Pandora on an android device. it doesn't show the song details, But w/ an Iphone it does. IMO use bluetooth streaming to keep wires to a minimum.

The bluetooth on the stock HU is what keeps me from upgrading, as I've tested out many higher end Kenwoods and Alpines in person, and the pairing is not as fast as with the stock. Also, the call clarity on the car end is very good, and the other party does not hear any road noise.

The only problem I've had with the Bluetooth is that sometimes it won't display the artist/song name info, it's just blank. But after a reboot it works fine.

Otherwise it works great!

I can control mine by the phone or by the HU, doesn't matter if I am streaming audio on bluetooth or if I'm plugged into USB

I will also second that the sound quality sounds the same to me. I have tried to hear a difference several times. The bluetooth is impressive for a rather crappy HU. I still plan to switch mine out eventually but its not on the top of to-do list just yet.

The quality's really good, and you can control it using your phone or the deck.

I prefer plugging it in via the cable though, cuz then my phone charges and it's hooked up to the deck.

Also, it feels as if through BT, the sound is a bit quieter than through the cable.

The BT in my FR-S is a lot clearer to the recipient than my 2012 xB.

Not sure what I am missing but the Pioneer AVIC-X9310BT in the BRZ does not seem to have any voice activation or 'hands free' capability. Sure it plays through the speakers and used the head unit's mike but I can't just tap a button and say "call home". I have to hit a the screen a bunch of times just to make a call. Any suggestions on how to get this functionality? The FRS has a "Call" button but no such luck on the BRZ.
