Look, dont get me wrong, I totally dig Perrin, and think Chris is a swell guy. I didnt believe him when he told me about the clampless hoses, so I called up MOCAL the manufacturer; and indeed, operationally rated 200psi at 300 degrees clampless. I scratched my head a bunch before putting it all back together clampless, but thats the real deal http://97.74.32.155/files/phosend.pdf scroll down to the last page of the pdf our setup should never reach 300F or 200psi; so even the mocal dude said that clamps would be 'overkill' unless it was for a formula 1 car.. |

What size is the an fitting?
What size is the sandwich adapter threads? NPT? I will order this kit, purchase 90 degree an to npt adapters, and install it via the path you drew, or something similar. There will be enough room, just a little creativity laying the path from adapter to the cooler. It will work.

Also, for those eventually ordering this kit - do not add clamps to the fittings for what you believe to be extra security. That can actually cut the hose and cause leaking problems.

Yes, and I read that to be for applications where the temps exceed hose's rated 300F. ... if your oils at 300F you have other issues at hand. In that instance they suggest oetiker clamp.
Speaking with Perrin, they've tested the snot out of it and no leaks. Last edited by gmookher; 09-15-2012 at 07:38 PM. |

I agree if you are hitting 300F you have problems somewhere but I was wondering about the clamp no clamp question.

OK
Oil line popped off - these things NEED clamps, the hose calls for a stepless or oetiker clamp under high pressure use While this works fine for perrin up in portland, here in AZ its hotter by a bit; the rubber expands more under hot oil... didnt get to do the group drive, had to pull over as oil leaked out everywhere part of the price for being a prototype tester..stay tuned |
