I've gotten a couple calls from Scion Customer service. As I've said on other threads, I would really recommend you guys to call the main customer service line. Tell them anything and everything you've noticed with your car. Even the little things that may just be paranoia. I've already got parts ordered for mine, and I'm in a rental for the week (free of charge or course). Telling the reps what you feel is wrong enables them to push the tech's working on our cars to really triple check the things you noted.
They're also considering extending my comprehensive warranty at my request. I'm sure Subaru would treat things the same, but let us know, BRZ owners. |

The idle chirp problem is the fuel your running if you run any eth fuel it will make the cricket noise you should run either octane boost or find a gas station that does not have fuel with ethynol mix in it to stop the cricket noise

It's not. I run only sunoco 94 octane, as well as mixed in 6 gallons of their ethanol free 100 octane one tank, and it does not fix the problem. Regardless, you can't expect people to ONLY run non-ethanol fuel in the car for it to function properly, assanine assumption if true. |

B. I'm curious as to how an ECU reflash will fix a noise created by the actual pump doing its job.

I thought the same thing at first, but I wonder if the flash alters the switch over points for the fuel injection. Most people only hear the noise at Idle or slightly above.

New ECU's and the fixes for the Camshaft gear codes many people are getting will not fix the Chirp/Crickets. I think it's been pretty well documented that there is a part of the DI system that is not being lubricated properly, either because of fuel quality here, or because of high ethanol content.
The rumors I've read/heard is that they are already aware of the chirp, current TSB's or fixes are not aimed at the chirp, and someone said they are already looking at some kind of silencer or shield for the crickets, since it won't go away any time soon. |

Update FWIW.
1. Engine Cricket Subaru aware of issue, expects ECU update in a "few months" service manager wouldn't elaborate as I appeared to know more then she did. 2. Loose gas pedal (shimmy's side to side) "Normal" for this car. Guess having my previous 3 vehicles having floor mounted gas pedals doesn't help. 3. Rattle behind dash/steering wheel upon moderate acceleration I was told this is a gasket/washer on/in shifter assembly. Only time will confirm if it's the proper fix for what I was hearing. 4. Idle dip - sounds like the car almost stalls Told this was "normal". 5. GPS signal loss Subaru aware of on-going issue. Will be "addressed in the future" by a service bulletin. 6. Rattle in door card Found and resolved, loose wire or something of this nature. 7. Transmission rattle/chatter in 2nd gear decceleration Again, told this was normal and in line with "test" BRZ Subaru bought to compare. I feel that my previous car being a bullet proof-rattle free-silent Mercedes again has influenced me to have a keener ear. 8. Passenger window down auto button issue "I rolled it down and up about 40 times." Couldn't replicate. I'm just glad to have the car back. One can only make so many lesbian outback jokes in 4 days...
