Driveshaft carrier bearing movement
Hey all, I was checking the car over and this seemed like an excessive amount of movement from the carrier bearing, but tbh I've never checked it before. Can anyone confirm it this is normal or not.

I'm going to check the play on mine this weekend, but I want to say yes.
Since the carrier bearing isn't serviceable, if I were you I'd just buy a used GR86 driveshaft and call it a day. Lighter, less miles with less play, CV joint that replaces the U-Joint all for ~$150 shipped to your door. |

Seems normal enough. There’s a YouTube video somewhere of it doing that under load, too. Look up the JXB carrier if you’re curious about alternatives.

I hated the feel of the 2 piece shaft. I could feel it off balance especially at low speed. That's why I went one piece.
Did the same thing with an Isuzu Rodeo I had years ago. I was going thru carrier bearings like crazy, so bad I had it customized with a one piece shaft. No problem after that. |

I'm not super interested in using a 1pc driveshaft.
