Wondering if anyone dipped the polished spokes and left the black spokes alone. Taping up all the non-polished areas seems like it'll be quite challenging...

Yea I was thinking about doing that as well. Masking off the non-polished areas would take up a bit of time. I have to plastidip my track wheels soon, so I guess I can give it a try on the stocks while they are off.

Why put warmth into the metal?
And when you peel the masking stuff off, do you use a razor to cut along the border? or when you peel it does the plastidip just cut itself off cleanly Looking at te pictures where the masking cards/paper is still on it looks like the plastidip doesn't form a continuous layer from wheel to mask, is that difficult to achieve or just naturally how it settles? EDIT: Also, would taking a clay bar to the wheels make any sense? Would impurities embed themselves in the painted sections of the rim just like they do in the body of the car? |
