Just get the Pivot dual gauge. Analog scale for water temp. Digital gauge for oil temp and intake air. I have one, works great, plugs into the OBD. https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25007

Especially when there are so many plug and play options out there already.

Haha. Yes there is supposed to be a temperature (probably below freezing point), that the compressor won't start. Because at that temperature it probably won't have any effect on humidity, and it could freeze the drain line, and maybe cause low refrigerant pressure problems.
