Just get a Bluetooth dongle and the torque app.

I don't see why not. The sensor is mounted in front of the A/C condenser, if you found a voltage compatible sensor for water or oil you could definitely wire it in. AFAIK nobody has done this on our car yet.

What's the range on the readout for the outside temp gauge? If it doesn't read above 200º (unless you're working in ºC!) it wouldn't be of any use. Also, is the OT sensor used by the engine management system? (I don't know the answer, just brainstorming..)

not sure. I guess we could try putting a heat gun to it to see if it goes over 200

As far as if the engine management system uses it, that could be a problem but I highly doubt that it does. It should only care about intake temperature, not outside temperature. |

Interesting idea. Would definitely make for a stealthy, oem looking temp monitor. An OBD BT dongle + Torque works too but has its own issues like always having to wait for pairing, bad pairing, battery drain depending on BT adapter, etc. Enough issues wasting my time and with the frequency of me using torque just for temp read outs that I switched to manual gauges. OP I hope you try this temp sensor conversion and I hope it works.

I have no clue if it does anything other than display the temperature on the dash but I would want to make bloody sure it isn't sending a signal to any other system in the car before messing with it.
May be fine on a manual HVAC control but I do know that it plays a part in the automatic HVAC systems.

The HVAC probably use that temperature reading to know if it needs to start the AC compressor when you use the windshield defrost vent.

How about this project to use display place where clock is to show oil/coolant/intake temps, voltage, a/f ratio?
