You mean the low fuel warning light? That's very far from empty, you know.
In my estimate (and in my car) it comes on when there's between 10 and 12 liters left in the tank. That's 20% to 24% of a 50 liter tank. The light is useless.
I've driven more than 80km with that light on and still only managed to cram 44 liters in there.
"driving it empty" ...... how does one drive a car with an empty fuel tank ..?? Get it..?? No .. ?? Nobody "gets it" except me ....... what's wrong with you folks .....

(maybe I shouldn't have cut back on that expensive med ... ??)

Much funnier when they have to be explained.

I'm guilty of being too terse. Inaccurate, actually.

If the issue is due to "works as designed," then running it below a quarter tank should do the trick. I haven't personally seen it but the topic has been discussed here a few times.

Welp, maybe we should just go back to having a reserve part of the gas tank, controlled by a simple little lever, pretty hard to mess that up ......

I ended up removing the unit, making sure the float arm went in properly and did not get hung up on the hose inside the tank. . The actual inside of the tank is pretty shallow, so there is not a lot of space for the arm to hang down. Once you push the assembly down and compress it, you don't want to twist it more then necessary. It seems to be working now.

You need to move to Dallas to fix that problem. You are not allowed to use them anywhere in Dallas county!

Well ya, that makes sense. If you signal, that just signals the other drivers behind you of your intent, which gives them less time to close the gap before you can move in. ......
