Windows were frosted over this morning. Definitely took advantage of the heated seats, and pumped hot air for a minute before turning fan speed to low.

I use climate set to 22.5c in conjunction with seat warmers on high. Its rather relaxing when the seats hold you oh so perfectly snug.
Rarely use internal cycle, unless I'm behind a heavy polluter, either car or person (smoker). If the outside temp is between 22c to 26c I'll turn off both and just roll the windows down otherwise, back to the same settings if either below or above that range. Sydney's temps ranges from 10c all the way to 40c in a year.

On days when the temperature is reasonable and climate control isn't necessary, it stays off.
In the summer, and in the winter, of course I use it. I set it to 72 in the summer, and 68 in the winter, and just leave it, for the most part. Auto climate control FTW! You don't realize how convenient it is until you have it.

I'll hit the auto defrost button in the morning to defog the front and rear window, but I usually crack the windows as well. Then I turn it off once the windows are clear.
I dislike running the heat because it dries out my lips, eyes, and hands on already cold and dry days. I'd rather be cold than have chapped lips or a bloody nose. It has to be over 90, or very humid for me to run the A/C. Smooth shifting is just too hard when the A/C is on. Then you have the engine stutters and revs bouncing up and down when at a stop. I'll suffer a little back sweat for a better drive. I also keep my windows open even if it is raining - assuming we are going fast enough that the rain doesn't come in. But there again, I'd rather have my doors get wet than deal with what the AC does to the driving experience. |

I use mine on low just to keep air moving, I turn off the A/C when it comes on (unless it is super hot outside) and have my windows down as much as possible.
This topic brings up a question I had been meaning to ask, when the windshield defrost (or defrost/face vent) is selected you can't take it out of "auto" which I think means the A/C is engaged when needed...but it doesn't light up over the A/C button. So my understanding is that it is not possible to move air to the windshield without losing control of whether or not the A/C is on. |

Vic's dismissal of the dual automatic climate system is certainly a reasonable judgment and we've been through that discussion before. I just don't think the small cabin bears a major responsibility for disliking the automatic controls. My experience has been that when the cabin gets close to the set temperature, the system begins to mix warm and cool air so it can't overshoot the comfort zone. If it does, you've got your temp set too high or too low, or else something is amiss mechanically. I still believe that the dual controls are useful, especially in the summer when the sun beats down on one lap and the other is in shade (notice it for a week or so; I think you'll see that it happens nearly all the time). "Set it and forget it" is maybe a little exaggeration, but I find it pretty nearly true on long trips. Anyway, we may not need such a system in our cars, but I appreciate it as much as the same kind of control in my home . . .

I see this is an old thread, AND with a very poorly worded pole.
Someone mentioned in a post months ago that he has manual controls on his car. He also stated that the problem is having to do constant adjustments. I also have manual controls. I also make constant adjustments. It's the only way, that I know of, to get what I want right now. I don't think there's a computer yet that knows what I want at any given moment. The only problem I've had with all cars is that I am unable to get full defrost and sufficient air on my face at the same time. I know of no manufacturer's vehicle which allows this function. |

I am with you. Have heated seats in all my cars except my 2004 WRX, so I had to pay 300 to put one in. Once you go heat its tough without it.

Climate control I find is useless at times (most times). Like when it's 45-50 deg out; sunny and the interior temp is warm say 70+ from sitting in the sun. well do you really want the AC on when it's 45 deg out when just a crack in the window and some fresh air is all you need to cool off the inside?
Plus I hate having the AC compressor run needlessly. The more you can have it off, the better fuel mpg etc. And let's face it, it robs power. I can feel a huge difference with the compressor cycling on. I turn the AC on when I need it, and the heat when I need it. and adjust the temp to the current conditions. Mostly I keep fan on low all the time for fresh air. and crank it up when I need more cooling or heat |
