Climate Control Conversion
Hello, a while ago there was someone on here selling custom harnesses to retrofit a premium model climate control panel to the base FRS. I was wondering if anyone else is making these? And if so what parts are required to buy? (Like the heat box, temp sensor, etc?)
Thanks. |

Take car to dealership. Trade in said car. Get car with climate control. Honestly, that's probably easier.

In addition, you need the following parts: 72311CA061 the climate control panel 72100CA070 the automatic heater blower unit assembly 73730CA020 the temperature sensor 72313CA010 the hose assembly for the temperature sensor All in all its at least 1000 bucks for those parts unless you can source them used. The heater blower unit has to be switched out. I tried to retrofit my manual control heater blower unit with the parts which are different between the two, but it is just different enough to not be feasible. So, you must swap the whole unit out. Since its behind the dash, the dash must completely come out. If you are interested, I included a picture of the guys harness. Your best bet would be to track him down somehow. I only contacted him through the forum, but a few people actually did this retrofit, and maybe they can PM you contact info for him. |

Totally agree. Don't be cheap and just buy a Limited to begin with. You're already blowing X dollars, why not spend an extra 1/10 (or less) of what you just spent to get everything and have no regrets later.

Every time someone asks a question about making a change to their car that adds a feature on the limited, someone inevitably feels the need to tell them that they should have bought a limited, or they should just trade their car in for a limited blah blah blah. We get it, you were smart to buy a limited, we were all dumb buying an FRS then deciding to add something later. The OP asks a question, and the response is you should have bought a different car. Sooooo helpful, thank you for your insight. Never mind the question was about adding a feature to a car that is ALREADY owned. There couldn't ever be any other factors involved as to someone may have purchased an FRS over a BRZ? |

The thread has been deleted as well, or that I could find. I was able to find the thread Cached on google, but most of the pictures didn't work. I found the link to buy the harness, but was ready to give up the money for something I wasn't sure I was going to get. I also tried getting in contact with him to no avail.

oh. well i'm the first person that bought the harness from him. works well enough. footwell air stays open even if i set it to close, but that may be because i screwed up swapping parts for the one part inside. the harness itself is very straightforward and pretty easy to install. i never actually use the auto part. i LOVE having the nicer controls though. and the dual climate is SUPER nice to have because my body tends to run hot so i need more cold air than most of my passengers. would i do it again? maybe not. am i happy with it? totes.
