Some say an oil change with motul 300 makes a difference.

I'm thinking that some of you folks should trade in your cars for a car with an automatic transmission ......

Also did the oil change make any difference at all? Or was it exactly the same?

I honestly couldn't say. It might have been placebo. I know that my 2017 BRZ trans shifts smoother than my 15 FRS. I'll swap to Motul Gear 300 soon and report back.

The way I look at it is the transmission isn't "supposed" to grind. If it is, that's a problem. There's a difference between notchy and grinding, too. If it's grinding you should get it looked at.

My new transmission is what I would call "notchy" but definitely isn't grinding anymore.

I have a 2013 that's out of warranty now, and within the last 6 months or so, I've started noticing it will slip out of 5th gear into neutral every once in a while. I installed the perrin bushing/whiteline positive shift kit/mtec springs mods about a month ago, and since then the problem is much better, although it has happened once since then. I replaced the tranny fluid at ~35k miles with motul 300 too. Probably bad synchro, sigh..guess there's not too much I can do about it now, other than replace the fluid again. (I'm around 72k miles now)

You realize it's suggested to change tranny/diff fluid every 30k sometimes earlier right?

I'm pretty sure the maintenance schedule in my user manual just said to "inspect" every 30k miles, but I guess I haven't been doing that either - might as well replace it if you're going to the trouble to inspect (our tranny's don't have dipsticks do they?)

Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend - probably going to try Pentosin MTF2 this time around just for curiousity's sake if I can find it/get it and crush washers before saturday.

Thanks for the tip!

It all depends on how you drive. Someone who regularly tracks the car and drives it hard may change fluid every 5k. If you're driving it as a daily I'd recommend changing it every 30k. Preventative maintenance is key. Your issue may have stemmed from not changing the fluid soon enough
