If you want HID lights on your FRS, you need to do a retrofit with projectors that are meant for HIDs. FX35 projectors are great for this, as well as some Honda/Acura projectors. If you do it any other way, you're doing it wrong. Even if you do it this way, it's still illegal in the USA but at least it actually works properly. The chances of law enforcement giving you a hard time is almost 0. If you do it the wrong way, your chances of law enforcement busting you is a lot higher because they'll probably be blinded by your awful "HID conversion."

Taking all the standard features the Subaru offers compared to Scion into account; it would definitely cut cost for Scion, and in turn...cheaper MSRP for us.

Scion sell you the bare bones of the vehicle for an affordable price, and then they offer aftermarket/add-on packages for your own customization. I agree Scion should at least have an option for the HIDs as factory add-on, but I guess that's why Subaru is also in the market with its twin sister.

Im gonna have to remove the headlamp housings from the car though, because I wasnt precise enough to be able to bend them all the way with the headlamps still in the car.
Any pictures of where those tabs are? sorry hehe im new to this!

Without removing the front bumper and headlamps, getting any pictures would be near impossible. They are located inside of the projector housing, I just jammed my finger in there and felt around for a thin metal plate that was easily movable, and belt it downward. Seemed to work OK? I wouldnt recommend doing what I did without verifying with someone else, lol.

When adjusting the tab, don't just push it all the way down. You will have to fiddle with it, until you find the best output

To add fuel to the fire, here's a pic of my car with HID's (on the right, 6K) next to my wife's car with stock HID's (10 Flex). The cars are about 20 feet from the garage door for reference.

Looks ok, but not great compared to the better OEM HID projectors. Is the FRS/BRZ projector lens crystal clear, or is it dimpled/rippled/frosted?

I'm actually surprised TRS posted a screw-in aftermarket projector instead of playing with lens swaps - unless they already tried and they all sucked.

I'm pretty sure the lenses are frosted. I'll eventually get the TRS kit, but this is ok for now.

Might be interesting to do a lens swap.

I've never looked into Morimotos before now. Back in the day, good OEM projectors had the best width (aftermarket were all garbage, as were some OEMs), but the Morimoto H1 projectors are pretty impressive.

The BRZ projectors don't look very wide. This shot is way closer to the wall than in the photos below, but you get the idea.

Acura TSX (used to be among the better for price:performance)

Morimoto Mini H1

Or a retrofit for 275 bucks.

But hey, why not blind oncoming traffic and be cool like the jacked f150s with the drop in kits if it saves you 200 bucks. Most of you drop-in people wouldn't have paid for the OEM hids even if they were an option anyway. That's 1000 bucks.

Some halogen projectors take well to PNP kits. Sometimes the halogen projectors with a kit are even BETTER than the OEM HID upgrade, such as the last Celica.

From the OP's pic, I'd say the factory BRZ projectors are probably better than the FRS+HID. They made the FRS projector throw a TON of light up above the cutoff even after fixing the squirrel finder. However, among OEM HIDs, I'd rate BRZ HIDs as average, not great. I wouldn't do an E46 retrofit, but S2K or TL+ZKW look like they'd beat BRZs.
