Rear lights difference…

Only recently I noticed the red side (reflector I presume) on the rear lights. I assumed that this was an esthetical option, but now i also noticed that this seems to be an attribute of the US spec models, which kind of sucks because I live in Europe and, for a black car i was liking more of this redder rear lights...

Yep, clear side marker lights for that front fender are going to be a hot commodity in the US. I would imaging getting the JDM rears would be cost prohibitive for many (but not all, I am sure).

I'm PRETTY sure this has been pointed out and largely discussed. The extra red reflectors for the US models are to adhere to DOT regulations.

I'm definitely going to get clear front reflectors for my front fenders.

Okay, so the color of the side markers is to adhere to US DOT standards. But I have a question. Look closely at these markers in the pictures below. It appears to me they have lights under them. Wouldn't it be reasonable to believe you could change the color of the lens and have a colored bulb underneath so that the marker is still the right color in the dark? Sorry if that sounds dumb or something, but I was just curious.

I personally like amber side markers, I'm glad they are not "euro" clear markers.

I might do something like that, or buy usdm tails… However I would prefer that the car would come from the dealership looking like I want. I’m not much into the car modification scene, anyway I still haven’t decided about the car color, so if I go for a light one i might actually be satisfied with the clear tails… I think I’ve to see it in the metal to figure this out.
