They still receive varying blends of gas. May as well call it winter blend since it's different from summer blend.
I am guessing at the abbreviations but it looks like they mandate a lower vapour pressure fuel for summer in FL.

Winter gas where I am has additives to prevent things like potential gas line freezing issues. Yours is probably just regular gas with the summer fuel having something different to reduce vapour emitted in high temperatures.

LOL !!!

Yes. Heavy ass wheels would do that. But hey those 18"+ wheels sure look good eh?
As others said wait till you boost.

I'm sure you guys up there get way more things in your winter blend than we do since you guys have to deal with below freezing temperatures. But I do see a mpg hit once my local gas stations switch over to winter blends.

I don't know the exact specs on my wheel. I know they are 18 inches by 9.5 back and 18 inch by 8.5 front and they are rays gram light 57xtremes. My love drives his car with 11inch tires in the back and kraftwerks c30 and his mileage is 19-20. I hope when I out my edelbrock kit it doesn't drop down to like 15 or something. I live in Florida and I haven't changed my driving habits. Me and bf both drive automatics and daily our cars. I don't really know if anything else that would have caused my mpg to drop so bad cause I only noticed it after putting the rims, but to me they feel almost the same weight as stock or lighter, they don't feel heavier but I could be wrong . I am not mechanically inclined at all soo...

57extremes in 18x9.5 are approximately 21.6 lbs, while the stock wheels are around 20.1 lbs.

What kind of tires did you get?

I just went FI with the Edelbrock kit and so far I'm almost near my 30 MPG that I used to get while NA on 91 octane with my same driving habits.

Maybe a stupid question, but are your tires directional? If so, are they pointed forwards?

I don't know how an alignment would get drastically affected by a wheel swap, but if your alignment somehow got messed up, that can also contribute to the lower mpg.

Lastly, check your tire pressure and make sure they're not on the lower side.

Did you switch gas stations and/or brands lately?

FIRSTLY, check tire pressures. That's the only thing that would result in such a drastic loss and also would explain why it got worse over time.

This is the OBVIOUS first thing to check, yet it took til post #20 for someone to casually mention it might be worth checking *lastly*?!

I don't know how to tell if they are directional is there anything i would see on the rim that would tell me? My tires say max pressure 50, and my car says 35, I keep them at 39. I think that's good enough? When they warm up the pressure increases right? Also no I didn't change gas stations. I always put 93 shell gas only.

On the sidewall it will have large lettering saying DIRECTION and an arrow pointing the way they should be rotating. It should point towards the front of the car.

Tire pressure is subjective, but most people run between 32-34 for daily driving. At 39, that is actually probably overinflated.

39 would be better for gas mileage.

I run between 38 to 40 psi (cold). 52k miles, ~45k of which are the OEM tires. Tires have even wear across the tread.

The tire may also say "outside" on the side wall in addition to "direction >."

Only thing I can think now is some how the alignment (unless you've been driving around with the AC on the entire time [having the front defroster on will turn on the AC compressor]).

Also, are your mpg numbers calculated by hand, or are you going off your digital gauge?

Good call on the OUTSIDE marking as well.

There is a good reference on tire pressure.

I did not get an alignment after putting these rims on, I did get an alignment maybe like a few months before I put them on when I got lowering springs, but that was stock rims and tires. I thought if the car still drove fine I didn't need an alignment. It doesn't veer of to one side or anything.

I will check the direction when I get out of work
