I agree that it's totally pointless. In most cars it is honestly. The only vehicles I'd see it being worth while would be cars with real back seats or even third row seats. |

Not clear which model car the OP has ?? Manually adjustable or Auto climate control ?
I do know that on the manually adjustable, the A/C compressor comes on automatically only in the defog and deice modes of the control modes twist knob. There's a reason for that. In those modes the drier air (of the 'conditioned' air) hastens the process of removing fog from all windows...and this is done fastest in the fresh air mode (not recirculate). Additionally, manufactures of cars with a/c want to make sure the a/c compressor does run at times. Running the compressor helps lubricated it's front seal. The car will get slightly less mpg when the a/c compressor is running. With the manual control system... you'll have to adjust temperature knob at different settings (to maintain a specific air outlet temperature) depending on whether or not the compressor is running....this is normal. This car, having a small cabin, fogs up very quickly. That's hastened if there are two people in the cabin. People contribute to the moist air in the cabin. Fortunately this car defogs very quickly, efficiently when the a/c compressor is running, and an appropriate temperature of the temp knob is set. Rear window defogger helps as well, to speed the process. Last edited by ToySub1946; 03-21-2016 at 06:08 PM. |

don't click auto. hit the AC switch twice if you currently have the fans off. turning on the AC will enable the fans, as well as the AC, then once you turn off the AC the fans will stay on unless you hit off. I have my fan on all the time so I get fresh car flowing. if you have the fan on and turn off the car, the settings save so you basically don't need to touch anything as long as you do not hit the "off" button.

I WAS turning the HVAC system -completely off- since the weather is so agreeable here lately. Then, when I want the fan on, I could only (seemingly at the time) get it on by selecting AUTO , then turning off A/C. Your work-around is helpful and a great place to start. Thank You!! |

Not really sure why people are so worked up about this.
1.) A/C helps keep the humidity low in the car, which makes it more comfortable, keeps windows from fogging up, and helps defog windows more quickly. 2.) Occasionally running the A/C compressor keeps it form seizing due to non-use, and helps circulate fluid to make sure hoses and stuff don't dry out. (I don't know if it's true, but I'm told a lot of older cars with knobs used to force you to go through the A/C mode to get to heat when turning on the HVAC because that would give the compressor a kick to keep it from seizing in place.) 3.) If you are worried about acceleration, most modern cars these days automatically turn off the A/C under hard acceleration to give you that little boost in power. 4.) If you are worried about having to recharge the A/C system, or replace the part slightly sooner due to more frequent use, and are willing to disable a feature designed to make the cabin more comfortable for the occupants, maybe you should consider a cheaper car where you can enjoy things like "cool, dry air" without worrying about its effect on your wallet. |

Guys, Guys, I think we are losing track of the real subject here and I would like to stop derailing this thread so if we can get back on topic and discuss the konami code it'd be appreciated ok?... thanks for your understanding.
