@humfrz @Ultramaroon

The "shhh" sound is a little difficult to hear. I noticed it when I had the windows down, a/c and stereo off, and driving slowly through the neighborhood.

I have not tried it while pressing the clutch, but I have tried braking in neutral and I don't hear the sound.

Yes, this also happens while shifting from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. I have not noticed it at other times.

I have Openflash UEL header. I installed it a couple weeks ago and I don't remember hearing it before. I also recently replaced the wheel studs on all four wheels.

Your clutch is about to go out. Not even kidding. This same thing happened to me. Dirt and grime are on your pressure plate and whenever you engage the clutch those fibers are grinding together and in turn ruining your clutch. The sound you are hearing are those fibers. It's essentially metal rubbing together making that "shhh" noise. Take it to a dealership ASAP.

My car had around 45000 miles on it when it happened to me.

Now, @BCTV93 ..... if it is a wore out clutch disk, you may wish to do a simple "indicator" test.

Set the parking brake, put the car in 2nd gear, rev the engine to about 3,000 rpm, let the clutch out slowly. If the engine dies, the clutch still has some life ......if the engine keeps running, your clutch and or pressure plate is shot.

Sorry, away from the forum today. Broke out the ol' snowboard and hit Mt. Hood.

I drove a friend's frs who had one of the early Borla EL headers. Something about it made a "shhhh" sound, almost like an aerated faucet running full blast. It was particular to that specific header so I'm thinking red herring at this point.

Apparently this is a common thing with headers. My Borla-equipped friend shared this link.

I have an update. For me, it is not clutch related, but the sound mentioned by @BCTV93 caught my attention.

To me, while driving, it sounds like the sound is coming from the back of the car. But my hearing is not great, so that may not be accurate.

I am able to repeat it every time. It happens while coasting and the RPMs and going down and it occurs around 3400 RPM every time. I can make it happen in 2nd or 3rd. I have not tried other gears.

It makes a "shh" sound or it sounds like I drove through a small puddle. It only lasts a fraction of a second but I hear it every time.

It may be happening at other times but I have not really noticed it, except for a similar, possibly unrelated sound, when accelerating and shifting gears.

I tried to get a video but there was too much road noise with the Go Pro on the side of the car. I also set the camera on the side of the road and did a couple drive-bys but I could not hear anything over the sound of the car and road noise.
