Clutch making a "Shh" noise?
So this only happens sometimes, but when it happens, it's pretty audible.
It usually doesn't happen unless I've been driving for awhile through the day. When I'm letting off the clutch shifting from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, or 4th to 5th, there clutch makes this pretty like 'SHHH' sound. It's most audible from 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th. Strangely enough, if I let off the clutch a bit later and gas later making the car jerk a bit, there's no sound. The sound is also coming from the bottom, where the clutch would be. The car is at 50,000 miles. Any idea? My girlfriend said "OH, I've heard turbo cars make that sound" LOL. |

It thinks it's a BOV. It needs to go to therapy for identity crisis.
Not sure what to do about your clutch.

Does there clutch feel different? Have you bled/replaced your clutch fluid lately? Have you checked your clutch master cylinder fluid lately? I know my cylinder made a similar noise when I was bleeding it during a flush.

I think you and I have the same issue...took me a few months to figure out. It's belt chirp! It comes from the accessory drive belt effectively slipping very slightly during rapid speed fluctuation, such as a shift. This is why is only happens during clutch release, and should happen more frequently if you shift quickly with increased overlap between clutching and shifting. It should also happen more easily with the A/C on due to higher accessory load. I am yet to prove this, was planning on swapping the accessory drive belt out to prove that it's gone when changed. However, it's not really a durability issue, and may be attributed to driving style. You're the first case aside myself that I've seen who has this. I used to tend to shift quickly- slowing it down will give a few microseconds more to the accessory drive to slow down, as well releasing the clutch a little more slowly and giving less throttle on next gear. Or just get a new belt.. |

The clutch is tired and you are being loud. Please be considerate when others are trying to sleep

I got the same issue as well and managed to replicate the sound by jamming the throttle in 2nd gear from a slow roll as well as the methods the OP mentioned. Gonna see what the dealer says about it when I get my oil changed.

that sounds probable cause it fits the noise... i wonder if the dealer would replace it or is it considered a wear item too.

Does it go away or change if you press the clutch pedal?

Oh, wait, you wouldn't happen to have a Borla EL header, would you?
