Did you also get the pinion bearing, carrier bearings, correct shims, and other parts needed to install properly?
I had to swap pinion bearings 2x while adjusting to check the right depth for it.

possibly its either not shimmed right and the back lash is messed up. and if they didn't check for backlash properly it could make the loud whine.

you can't reuse any of the OEM stuff with the new ring and pinion set.
especially the crush spacer for the pinion.

also if your final drive is not the 4.10 your dash doesn't tell you what gear you are in.

@Joeyk are you meaning for auto or the gear indicator for manual that you can choose to display as I hadn't heard this?

Oh I didn't know you can choose to display the gear you've selected.
For the manual. Mine used to tell me which gear I was in. After the install of the final drive it didn't.

I guess what happened was when I had the battery disconnected the previous setting was deleted.
I've always wondered what g-on was... LOL guess I'll try to turn it on when I get home and see if it still works.

You have to turn it on, but it will be off from 3rd gear up.
You would have to adjust settings in ECU for showing correct gear.

Mine 4.88 Weir was also PITA to install, it was a two day job, but now it is working almost flawlessly, just some noisy humming above 190km/h. I am interested how it will be after few weeks.
Advice: buy the shim set.

Well weir performance just confirmed that I DID receive the correct parts. I'm hoping for a peaceful resolution to this.

I found another shop that I actually trust that I'm going to have look at it.

If they don;t refund me a good portion of the $, I'm debating on disputing the original charge with my credit card company.

They did, and they knew it was making noise. They made me aware before I drove it that "it's making a little noise still". That was quite the understatement.

BTW your car shouldn't be "humming like a mofo" on the highway. It should be quiet. Have you checked the temperature of your diff after some casual driving? Is it getting really hot?

Im sorry to hear about that... I have had a similar experience with a previous build in CA. The business that screwed up my car was an incompetent, lying, thief and had my car for a month for a 1-2day job. Then when I got the final bill he overcharged and the worked sucked. I had to go to another shop to fix it. I should have sued him. I should have sued. Why didn't I sue this guy
