Hehehe, I fell in love with autocrossing a few months ago once I killed the understeer in my FR-S, went karting (or it's equivalent) on circle tracks as a teen, loved the fumes and the reliance on intuition because you were straight for all of 2 seconds per lap.

Don't get me wrong, I like turning, but the constant sawing back and forth was obnoxious. A better track might change my feelings. Well, it won't fix the lack of protection.

I dunno which of those would take more work to keep running, but I do know it would be a miracle if I made it to the track, ran in every session, and made it home. Well, a Radical might be reliable, but the few I've seen had their engine covers off and were getting lots of attention between runs.

Well the Scout would run forever and the tool kit would consist of a screwdriver and 3 wrenches. That is, if you could stop it from rotting out long enough to get to you destination.

I think he lives in CA. Spend a few bucks on a rust free one and you should be good to go. Old cars always need some tinkering here or there, but at least you can tinker (and it's fun). Aside from occasional tinkering, that thing is built like a panzer. Radicals, well I'm honestly not sure how reliable they are, but I am familiar with sportbike motors - shouldn't be too horrible for a track only vehicle. But if you're not a track guy, or a mechanical guy, then yeah forget everything I said

My nephew has one. Two, actually. One for driving and one for parts. He also has a bicycle, I believe, for actually getting to places.

In this case I would go with a lightly used German performance like a M3.

Actually an E92 M3 would be the top of my list and they can be had for under 50K easy all day. The V8 engines in those things are solid, and the E90/92 m3's are super reliable. If you're more track focused, you can't do nothing but an used Cayman/boxster (Upgrading from this platform anyways, I'd personally go with the Cayman.) Theres also s2k Ap2s....I've driven the AP's MANY OF TIMES, and never thought they were GREAT. Easy driving with a smooth clutch, but (modded or stock) has nothing like driving characteristics of the E92 M3 or even the E46 M3.

I noticed someone mentioned a C63 AMG...Haha good luck on that, now that is a f*cking monster lol.
