Cayman/Boxster? Not really...

So I'm getting ready to buy another car in the next year or so. Not really planning on getting rid of the FR-S. It's a great track car and fun in the canyons. I'm looking at the Cayman and Boxster, pricing them out. They sound like fantastic cars. They are fantastic cars! Then I realize that I'm paying 50k + for a car, and more likely 70k+ for a car, that really just isn't that fast. I mean, it's not much faster around a track if you give the FR-S slicks and some coilovers. The FR-S is already more than fast enough for the street. The Cayman isn't a rocket in acceleration. It's just not enough to justify itself.

Yeah... so my car search continues. I gotta say, though, that the Tesla 90D is a freaking rocket ship. Now that is acceleration! Too bad it's so damn expensive and big. Do I really want to spend 120k (P90D + insane + jump seats) on a car that large? No. I want the new roadster, damn it.

Build your own rocketship roadster with an S2000 and a turbo. :P

If I was going to spend $50-70k on a car to complement the FR-S, I'd go with something with a different set of strengths. Since the FR-S is light, raw, and agile, maybe something that focuses on luxury and torque.

- Lux sedan (Audi S4, BMW M3, AMG C63, Caddy ATS-V)
- Roadster (Jag F-Type)
- AWD turbo (AMG CLA45, GLA45, Focus RS)
- V8 American (Mustang GT350, C7 Stingray)

My vote is for the F-Type

This FRS, one more FRS (maybe) and then Type F for me. Considering if they still make them and haven't ruined them in 7 years of course.

F-type is a seriously sexy car. Seen a couple of them on the streets in the last month or so and they look awesome.

May have to pick it up from some older gentleman who is retired and simply putters around town if that's the case.

Most likely applies to me than you however lol

Fun story:
I fought with Mitsubishi for two years over a piece of crap I bought from them and they were not willing to do anything. The same family had the Mitsu, Land Rover, Jag and Kia dealerships in town. Well since both my wife and I had Mitsus we both received invites to a special drive in movie event they held each year. Since it was two weeks after I got the FRS I decided to go. They had all the showroom cars parked up by the front and since I was just there to troll and didn't need to see the screen I parked right up front as well. I was 2 cars away from a beautiful white Type F. Once parked I just hung back and watched and listened. One couple looked at the Jag, walked over looked at my FRS, walked back and looked at the Jag, then back over to mine. The woman turns to her husband and says "I really do like it much better in the orange". I laughed my ass off then went to talk to them and set them straight.
I bet I talked to 50 people before the movie started and passed out about 6 of my sales person's cards. The Jag guys were pissed but I presume they didn't want to make a scene so never approached me.

Mine will be brand spanking new and will be my retirement car. It actually is within my reach now but I am not willing to spend the money just to ruin it with all my miles and if I own one I am not regulating it to a weekend cruiser. I am patient I can wait until retired.

Haha they must've been as old as you to make that mistake!

(I kid....)

Nah early forties I would say. Way younger then me. Really opened my eyes as to how the "general" public view the car though. We know the difference all too well but I bet 99% of the population take one look and can't tell the difference.

Yup, I work in an area full of upper end luxury/sports cars.

Yet I get more looks my way than a Porsche/BMW does. Yeah, the orange color does make it stand out but surely that's not the only case.

At least that's what I tell myself lol
