Bolded part shows you don't actually understand what you're talking about. Why on earth are you including different rpm's for different scenarios? If you want to compare FD's, the only variable should be the FD. Not the FD, and RPM.

Talking about blinders, if you had actually read my post, you would've seen the part about how close ratio with tall FD (same overall ratio in 4th) and wide ratio with short FD will be very different to drive, and would be used for different reasons even if one gear (say 4th) had the same overall ratio (gear ratio * final drive ratio).

Running a shorter final drive doesn't make the internal ratios any closer, and the RPM drop between shifts stays the same, the only thing that changes is how fast you go in each gear. Yes you spend less time in each gear with a shorter FD, but that does not mean it's a close ratio at all.

I forgot to mention that I have an Ali prop shaft from Driveshaft shop, uprated driveshafts from driveshaft shop and a Cusco 2 way LSD.

I can see the benefit in a higher FD for launches, but as already mentioned, there will be a benefit in a lower FD to hold the gears for longer. Is the stock gears capable of 600hp launches??

Just curious, what are people doing as far as the transmission is concerned when building the engine (300+ ft lbs)? Fitting a v160 to it? Cuz I know the stock transmission doesn't handle that much torque well. And I heard it gets insanely expensive to get a stronger gearset for the stock transmission (according to fbm)

How much torque the gearbox will (happily) take depends on how you drive it. If you're going to be launching hard and slamming shifts it'll take a lot less power than if you're doing highway pulls with more gentle shifts.

When I said Gears, I meant the Diff gears. Is this what you are referring to?

As for the transmission, I will be using Samsonas or Quaife?

I only know Quaife. The diff gear is relatively strong, its a derivation from the supra diff.

I have kept my stock gears and also bought a 4.55:1 set. There is also going to be a little Samsonas in my life shortly.. I went for the Option 3 gears with the 0.962 drop gears.


I can't wait to drive this car!!
