Every single day. You aren't living life if you don't string out this weak little motor.

And it's typical to do that 5x in a track day... I've been above 7k rpm >500x in a single day. My car is at 37k miles with the only issue being a coil pack that needed replacing.

If this engine can't handle that long term expect this car to get dropped by thousands of people.
You basically just proved my point though, I was being conservative with the 50 number because I didn't want to seem like the d!ck that says "REDLINE IT 200 TIMES A DAY IN TRAFFIC BRO"

It should be able to handle it minus a couple of things like the coilpack and the DI issues. But anytime you consistently beat on a high compression motor, don't expect it to last forever.

I can go you one better. I have "driven" a Subaru boxer engine (admittedly not this one) at 85 to 90% of RPM for as much as 3 hours at a time with no issues

Subaru engines are commonly used with reduction gear in experimental aircraft. In that scenario, they typically have a TBO (time between overhaul) of around 2,000 hours which is a lot of flying all at close to max RPM. Many last longer than that, but like any engine some won't.

Time will tell if this car has what it takes.

I'd rather find out today than putt around in fear.

Edit: My main point was that it's foolish to put a guideline of "number of redlines per day" there are too many factors to consider. I'd take a used car that was redlined 200x per day with proper maintenance over one that the owner cheaped out on maintenance and never passed 2,000 rpm any day of the week.

As dadhawk posted above, load and time spent at high load high rpm is a much better estimation on engine wear.

That's basically how I think about it.
Why not drive the piss out of it while it's under warranty? I'd rather have something go wrong or any potential issues start to pop up now than years later.

Now that the science is settled in favor of "yes", please post dashcam footage of your daily 4th gear redline excursions around Sydney.

4th isn't a good gear for me. Been known to shred to pieces with boost. Already been through one.

Maybe once in every 5 times I drive it. I usually drive quite sedately in the city. Rarely go over 4k rpm.

I don't drive mine as much as I'd like though. She's a 2012 and still under 10,000 miles lol.
