If this is still a current problem, do you have any insight to the root cause? Mine was first gen mfg'd in mid 2012 and my idle is rock solid after 13k miles and some track days...
Most of them are the OCVs and there has never been a revision to them. I am replacing a cam actuator on one this week whenever the part comes in. Yes, both old and new models. One of the "fixes" was a revision on the tune to essentially allow for a larger margin of error for cam phasing faults but even with the newer ROMs it's still happening and its because the cams really are going way out of phase with one another. Whats causing the failure of these components (OCVs and Actuators)? I don't know. They briefly have blamed oil viscosity and replacement intervals but that's BS because the majority of failures have been good oil and the correct viscosity. The parts are all of course non-serviceable so tearing them apart basically ruins them. Electrically all the OCVs I have had issues with test good so not likely an issue there. It seems to also almost religiously be the exhaust cams suffering the most failures but no surprise as they are the ones working much harder than the intakes. The intakes are rather stagnant (meaning they don't really advance and retard as much).

WELL, they finally got it "fixed" told me that some dog biscuit looking shim that is on the back of the cam cam off and was rolling around , they replaced the ecu as well. I do know that the surging while driving in 1st at low speeds and the up and down idle problems are no longer there.

Is there anyone I can talk to who can help me get this problem fixed on my car? I've had my car in the dealership but because i am modded they don't want to help me. I have the surging at low speeds and the check engine light with dip on deceleration. I know this is not caused by my mods... How can i fight this?

First question, are they refusing to work on your car because they don't want the liability of working on a customer's modified engine, or are they treating it as a voided warranty claim and saying you have to pay? Those are two completely different circumstances.

Have you communicated with them that this is a known problem and shown them the TSB? If you're being polite and professional, and they still refuse the work altogether, I'd get in touch with some other dealers to see if they will support it.

If you're not having any luck, see if any dealers would support the parts exchange for the updated parts, and then find out what some local garages with FRS/BRZ engine experience would charge to install them.

Add me to the list as well. Had the check engine light + my cruise control lights lock up on my dash at around 4K and they told me the cam position sensor triggered it. They cleared it and told me to drive the shit out of it.

I'm at around 6500 miles now. Drove to work and my check engine + traction control came on with idling issues. Dealership said to just bring it in and they would take another look at it.

Let us know what they find. Would have thought they would have worked out the bugs in the 2015 builds!

You would think that! Dealership told me last time that another girl was bringing her 2013 one in for the same problem every 8K miles.

I'll definitely let you know what they find.

Went to the dealership yesterday and the code that popped up was P00B (Cam position sensor). Not the first time this code has popped up on my car.

Going to get it replaced along with my ECU reflashed.

Reading through here this is probably one of the most common codes that get thrown! There is a TSB for it I believe.

After reading around this sounds like what happened to my car. I have over 40k miles, though, a modded engine, and no warranty. Would it be best to just let a shop take a look at it or take it to toyota?

How much is the cam gear? Do you know which one in particular it could be? The one closer to Piston 2 bank A

What is this TSB and where do I get it?

Modified engine, same goes, Had small idle issues since purchase that have manifested into Stalling when the rev's drop. Car is undriveable in traffic.
