Add about 10 to 15% to assist cold start so for 20 literes E85 add 2 to 3 litres petrol.
Dont add much more petrol than that as your ethanol percent will get to low.

Generally failed starts on ethanol fuel due ethanol has higher flash point than petrol and fails ro light up on cold start. if its starting on second or third attemp cannot see any big issue.

if your taking 6 cranks or something then yes might be additional wear on starter and fuel diluting oil issues.

add some petrol to your e85 or adjust cranking tables or both if its rearly cold.

This is more of a continuation from my other thread about having 10% LTFT after fueling up on E85. @steve99 mentioned the I probably got near true 85% ethanol in that fuel up, and a fix would be to add some regular gas/petrol. I did and it dropped to 7% ish.

My question is, if I keep adding more gas/petrol, will the LTFT keep dropping or is there a limit to how much gas/petrol I can add before it's unsafe?

Shiv reckons the tune will cope with between E60 and E90 ie you would expect around -10% ltft on E60 and around +10% ltft on E90. Assuming everything else is ok like no intake exhaust leaks and your on stock intake.

If you not testing your E85 with a kit i would not add more than 5 litres (gallon or so) of petrol to a full tank

At around E70-75 your trims should low around 5% or or so.

If you have other issues like intake exhaust leaks you need to sort them first. If you have aftermarket intake then your going to need maf scaling done or the tune may not work for you and actually be dangerous.

If your seeing ltft well over 10% on pump E85 its likely you have other issues.

It can look like this, however I am lucky and we have guaranteed 85% e85 at pump

I just started having cranking issues, today was the first day car failed to start, yesterday it choked and started, so today I put 1 gallon of 91 in my tank. Has anyone gotten the car to start smoothly by mixing a gallon of gas? Also, is there any word of Shiv coming out with a fix for this? Or is this an issue that we have to live with?

have a look in the "tune tweaks" link below some info their on adjusting Crankng Injector Pulse widths to get it started easier in cold weather. Adding a gallon of petrol/gass will help as well.

Thanks for the input! I'll give it a try. Did you just copy the tables from the post?

Did you also zero out the IPW table? Seems like a drastic change, so I just want to make sure I won't blow my car up

I just copied them this monday, always needed to add 3l gas for it to start clean year round before. Refuelled yesterday without and running approx. E75 winterblend in 40 degree fahrenheit weather. It starts right away but after a few seconds I need to add throttle or it will die again. So seems to be working. If anything changes further on I'll report it here...
