Hah, I get a kick out of the horsepower guys. Bottom line is I love this car, and I love driving it within the general margins of legality and safety.
But but but my [insertrandomcar] is faster! Good for you! GOOD FOR YOU. ![]() Anyway, back on topic; I REALLY hope they make another generation, because at the rate I rack up miles (WHAT?! I DAILY DRIVE THIS?!) I will need a new one in five years. I also REALLY hope they don't screw up the second generation by trying to pander to the naysayers, and the "it-needs-[blank]" crew. Stick to the Tada-san vision.

Just saying. I didn't buy mine for the convertible aspect at all. I drove a friend's S2K and was really impressed with how well it handled, and that's what led me to buying one. Didn't care about the convertible aspect at all. However, after owning it for a year now, I actually enjoy putting the top down on the way home from work every day. You come to appreciate it. I'd still love the car with a fixed hardtop too though.

With the constant statements about how great 'Stangs/Miatas/WRXs/etc are for right or wrong people get defensive. So many people love to throw on here how great another car is (Miata?) and then think it is weird when everybody here steps up to defend the car they own and love. If I went over to the Mustang or Miata forums and made comparisons running down their pride and joys I bet I would get the exact same responses. There is no disputing that many cars do some things better and just as many do other things worse. Congrats to somebody like Slowbutfun that didn't like his car and moved on to something that better suits his needs since that is exactly what should happen. What doesn't need to happen is him, and others like him, that move on but still seem to need to keep coming back, beating their chests and screaming ""stangs rule". The other crowd are the ones that probably have never even sat in one but have loads to say because they read an article once. Sure they have an opinion but it is not based on any actual facts beyond what they read.

Exactly!!!!!!!
Also know I am beating my head against the wall but I must have found a hidden masochistic tendency that makes me keep doing it anyway!

To the topic.
I cannot fathom why the prices go up on aging vehicles, there is a direct correlation with the MSRP on the FR-S and the sales decline, whether or not it's meaningful is up to you. In 2012 you could buy a base MT for ~$24,955 In 2013 the price went up to ~$25,255, No changes to the model just a January 1st 2013 price increase, one that I got stuck with ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The 2014 model starts at ~$25,470 The 2015 model starts at ~$25,670 Fuckin' why. Every other product gets cheaper throughout it's production run except cars, it's not like the plant or dock workers have growing pay, Toyota is screwing over their bottom guys like every other corporation allowed to do so. |

I've said it before and it's a dream, but if anything I'd like to see an even more niche special edition but realistically it won't happen in the US with our miles of wide open Interstates poorly suited to an even more track focused car and understanding that the latest RS 1.0 has probably hit the upper limit price wall for this segment. I'd still buy one. |

The Longshoremen's current annual income averages $245,000+ benefits in the West coast ports for what is effectively part-time work. Good job if you can get one, but they're patronage so you prolly can't. This month they're threatening to strike for even higher wages. It's no wonder Toyota is deeply involved with the new Baja port at Punta Colonet. |

The problem here is that it's all opinion isn't it. That's why the troll's such a troll is that he offers subjectivity disguised as objectivity and in doing so he is waving his stinky butthole around in public.
If I definined my car needs it would be: Practical, economical, quiet enough for work conversations while on the freeway, basic modern functions (A/C, Cruise, BT, etc) all while being fun enough that I'm never bored while I'm in it (aka 3 pedals and fun to toss around). Very few cars actually hit that mark... very few.
