Are you using thr safety clip? About to install it and forgot to purchase the clip. Seems pretty rugged without it...

It's not necessary. The valve lever is sprung, and the lever is pushed into a 90° notch when it's fully closed which prevents it from being opened. The safety clip does add a little peace of mind and simply holds the lever in the little 90° lock channel.

Drive car up on the curb on the pass side & a 2X4 (or two) on the drivers side.
Crawl under and drain (even with MY fat ass). Those using a vac pump are bat-shit crazy. I am positive I would spend more time cleaning the thing when I am done then the whole crawl under with a wrench part would take. Kind of like eating soup with a fork.... |

Motul Eco-Lite 8100 0w-20 and a Toyo Roki (OEM) oil fiter.
As for how I lift the car...I'm spoiled, I just get to use THIS.

In all honesty...if you have the space to install one...they aren't as expensive as everyone thinks. I have a 9,000lb capacity model because I needed the extra long and extra tall size to lift my truck, it was $3800. However the smaller 7,000lb capacity model is just under $3,000.
There are dozens of other options out there as well which take up less garage space, cost far less and serve different needs. For instance I was chatting in a different thread the other day about the Ranger BL-5000 which costs $1300 and is super portable and takes up nearly no space. There are many options, unfortunately there really isn't anything cheaper than a pair of jackstands and a floor jack. However if you can front the money then I highly recommend it...your back will thank you. I know mine does.

I haven't done my own oil change yet but i have the AMMCO 4 post lift that i used for other things on my car.
I'm going to change my oil on it this weekend though. You have to back onto it with our cars though hehe i learned that the hard way. I'm lowered 1 3/4" though And I agree with Sony 100% this is extremely convenient. You can drive it on and lift it a foot or so if you just want to do something to your engine and the car is at an easier height to work with too. Laziness + Creativity will be the death of me. |

why do u guys service your car on your own? since u got the warranty, isn't it necessary to let subaru do the servicing to keep the warranty?
i'd love to do the servicing myself but i'm afraid that i'll void the warranty... |

In USA, servicing your own car won't void warranty as long as you show proof that the services was done in accordance to the maintenance schedule. Not sure how it works in Switzerland.
