![]() "different strokes for different folks" I guess, also it's really hard to predict future and being able to upgrade things or a bit more headroom never hurts.. it's like desktop computers vs laptops (not sure if it's the right analogy, lol) I always like to build my own systems when it comes to computers and upgrade it as needed

and another good thing about the Rotrex units (in general) unlike turbo or positive displacement chargers, margin of error is a lot smaller so while each kit has its own contribution (bracket design, pulleys, IC size etc) but they don't apart like the turbo kits as you know (and that's the reason why you and I both prefer Rotrex units over the others for track use I guess)if you were local I would gladly let you gather more data too or let you drive for a few sessions, I also do my own datalogging but not with some ultra/pro equipment .. for the record, this is what I did to my header at the last event, I also periodically blow gaskets, ran off track and whatnot and KW kit seems to be running strong, I can even touch my hands on the IC (TB ) piping after a few minutes (which I made it really ugly by wrapping with "gold foil" haha)..so no problem so far, I definitely need KW oil cooler kit and upgrade my OEM oil cooler solution for sure .. and a freer flowing header wouldn't hurt, because mine is cracked wide open Ambient temps 93F + and the video from the last event [ame="http://youtu.be/lqiiD42H0d0"]http://youtu.be/lqiiD42H0d0[/ame] and some photos from previous events ![]() ![]()

my oil temps skyrocketed (my mistake of course but I was , my friend with a Miata had some shifting issues (damaged the fork I think)..etcso the word of advice, if you track your SCd car get an aftermarket header of some sort..too bad though I really wanted to keep the OEM header as the design and heat shield (well it's OEM ) and I am not really big fan of aftermarket parts, oh well..

@glamcem: those failures would indicate to me that either your EGTs are (way) too high, or you went off during a rain session and the rapid thermal contraction caused a stress failure...
Please get me a log! You should be seeing no more than about 1420F or so. *peak* |

@CSG Mike
do you recall what kind of setups and conditions did they have when they cracked the OEM headers? Quote:

your comments are now trying to spin the idea that an SC kit is legitimized primarily based on its track presence. clearly you are grasping at straws. also, in previous posts there are clearly KW owners who take their cars to the track with no problems; and given the number of KW units being sold we fully expect that there will be increasing numbers of owners taking their KW equipped 86's to the track. what are you going to fall back on at that point? just face it, JR has been out designed and you are running out of marketing angles. and why are you so quiet as to the real reasons why the JR kit is not upgradeable?...not even a peep. the elephant in the room is sad that you wont recognize his presence. and why do you feel compelled to jump into a KW thread and spew your JR spin? you know what....this is silly and tiring. why dont we just let time tell all. the cream will rise to the top.
