Pretty scary about the axle nut. I once triggered an ABS light, but was able to clear it by restarting the car in the paddock. Mine was just from locking up a wheel under braking at 100+ mph and wasn't from a hardware issue though.

Great that the shop is rebuilding everything for you, I've seen a lot that would defer it. How did they react when you told them?

Their exact words were "Oh Shit" "We will contact Bend Scion, pick the car up and make everything right. We stand behind our work and if we screwed up we will fix iT".

That was about 3 hours ago and I just got a call from them saying my car has been picked up and is in route back to their shop.

Unfortunately this is one of this s#%$ happens moments. Luckily you have an honest shop that will cover your butt and theirs by fixing what they did wrong. As always try to remember even mechanics are human and can sometimes miss even the most obvious stuff. Hope all gets fixed and good luck

Wait wait wait... You had cell reception at ORP!?!

Now we all know you have Verizon... you've been outed!

All joking aside, when you were looking at your speed sensors while at the track was it not easy to see that the axle nut was loose or the hub wasn't aligned? Did you not take the wheels off to inspect things?

I'm glad your day wasn't for not and that Bill (really cool guy) lent you a car and that the shop is standing by their shotty work and are making it right.

What did you think about ORP?

I love ORP, esp running counter clockwise. I'm a ORP Club member and have run it dozen's of times over the last 3 years in 5 different cars. And yes, Bill can't be beat. And yes again I have Verizon.

Yes, I took all 4 wheels off but never looked at the axle nut. Went straight to the speed sensor.

Just drove my car home. They replaced everything and it's working good again. They even washed it.

I never let anyone else wash my car. Too many careless people.

They screwed it up and then made it right. I hope they compensate you for the track date.

No such luck there. But Bill at the track gave me one of his "Chump" cars, a 1981 or so Honda Civic to run so all was not lost.

Here I am in his Honda Civic.

Well that whole deal sucked I get it but I would say the shop did you right. I know a lot of shops would say hey its on you for tracking the car and weasel out of it. At least you didn't get "your fixing to have a really bad day deal"..

Sorry, that does not make them assholes, that makes them human. You come off as more of an asshole.

Glad you got a fix in the works.
