Just buy an is300 and do a NA-T build. You'll save yourself much more time and money AND have another awesome car like me.

Off topic, but here is what happens with a LSx and 2JZ RX-7 swap.

Quote:
stock RX7 vs LS RX7 vs 2jz RX7 weight

This should be the definitive answer to how much swapping these cars throws off the weight/balance of the car. All 3 were weighed on the same precision scales with roughly half a tank of gas.

First off is a stock '93 R1. Well, stock on the inside at least - all the way down to the air pump.

Next up is a '94 LS powered touring model. No power steering and no ABS, but otherwise a full interior including A/C. Rear mounted battery.

Last we have a '93 2jz powered touring model. No A/C, but it does have full interior and a half cage in it. Rear mounted battery also.

All 3 cars are on coilover suspension, so corner balancing to get a perfect 50/50 isnt out of the question. The LS powered RX7 is making around 380whp. The 2jz is well over 700whp.

And for anyone curious here's all 3 with their drivers in them.

stock R1 -

LS powered -

2jz powered -

Hopefully this clears up the whole 'you swap out the 13b and ruin the 50/50 balance these cars have' debate.

Decide if you're willing to spend a minimum $15k (stock w/ r154). If you can swallow that, then add for mods.

I just got my built motor from the machine shop last night and am in the process of mocking up parts and researching my custom harness.

A lot of that is not required.

You know what? it'll be cheaper to buy a supra and put a GT86 "body kit" on it...
The FRS engine bay is larger than the Supra. The firewall does not need to be modified. And have you looked at the trans tunnel? Here's a clue, it's fucking enormous.

The only custom work is:

Wiring harness
Engine mounts (already kits available)
Driveshaft
Radiator
Intercooler
Exhaust
CAN integration

The rest is relatively basic.

yeah, im aware of that. i just dont see the need to come ask here. if you have deep enough pockets to have someone do it, you dont need to know how its done. or better yet, just ask the people you would have do it.

not sure about the FRS tho, but that doesn't seem to be true on the FD swap.

Actually, if you want to go to an enormous V8, an aluminum block LS is lighter than a 2jz if I remember the numbers right (and probably more compact too)...

if you are looking to make lots of power, i would go with an iron block over an aluminum block.
