I agree. Synth is the jdmchicago admin, and definitely not the guy who would be doing something like that.

They don't hold any grudges and I even spoke to the other person a few months ago to make sure things were cool. Everyone moved on. I got sick of the same people using fake names and emails to troll, hence the reason why I closed/moved the thread. I'm about giving second chances to people. Life is too short. Car looks cool IMO so I decided to snap a few pics. If you don't like my blog, that's fine. I hand pick every car and most of the owners are very happy to be featured.

Hey Synth,

I find it hard to articulate the proper words to explain what I, and probably a lot of us feel. Your photos are fantastic, and really not the source of much of the angst. Keep up the good work.

That being said, The car scene, as you know from being around it for so long is based on respect. Respect for each other, and the work and effort they do. It speaks a lot that you guys are willing to go to bat for him, however, he has shown nothing but disrespect and contempt for a lot of people on the scene. It isn't much different than when he had his 240 from what I hear, and it's not from one source, it's from many sources in different circles. Just take a few minutes and read this entire thread from the start. You'll have missed out on a few of his posts that were deleted, and there was another thread or 2 that he started flaming and insulting people (including admins,) that warranted his prior ban. Dave is letting his new account slide, giving him another chance, but he's still clearly combative.

That's what has lead to such a large backlash from his peers, and people outside of the Chicago circle. He still has a lot of growing to do and maybe earn some respect down the line, but until then, people won't be able to overlook his past or respect what he does.

In real life this car has peeling headlight tint, zip ties keeping the side skirts in place, and the front lip and rear diffuser look they came from a junk yard.

Synth did a REAL good job making that car look show car ready for as ghetto rigged as it is. (not that I expect a drift car to look pristine lol)

Nope. I'm friends with Tym and noticed him trolling the OP and saw this link on facebook. I had no idea about the hatred for AC until after I dropped the pics. I'm really not here to defend anyone. There were some assumptions being made which I wanted to address. That's pretty much it. I'm not bothered by the negative comments about my site because I'm confident with my myself, my content, and everything I do for the local community.

The rear diffuser actually doesn't look bad in person. Perhaps the image being used in the star wars chop is during a test fitment or maybe a bad angle? IDK. I actually do have a rear shot but I wasn't too happy with how it turned out. The lighting was wack and it would take some time to get it to my standards. I took these photos over two weeks ago and didn't want these to sit anymore because I had other deadlines to meet. Now that we found out Honda Tuning and Import Tuner have gone under, maybe I'll edit the rear shot and post it up.

This. SO MUCH THIS.

Used to have car meets with a close knit group of friends, every once in a while either douchebags from honda-tech or JDMC would crash it.... quite literally. Aside from doing burnouts in the parking lot and getting everyone kicked out/ticketed, I remember a time when someone in a civic slid into a curb and had to get towed away.

Almost forgot about the time some guys from either HT or JDMC showed up to the restaurant we had reservations at, sat down and talked (seemed cool), ordered drinks then left without paying the tab. This happens because meets get cross-posted on forums and people show up to either showoff to "lesser cars" or just be ****s.

In general I think people try to stay away from car meets because of the amount of douchebaggery that goes on... at least I do. Best bet for meets are the regional section on a specific car forum with not a lot of people and everyone knows eachother.

When all the 17 year old yoloswaggineers show up with something to prove, things go south very quickly.

I figured I'd clarify my comment about people wanting to keep their cars off your site. I know nothing about your site except that friends want their cars to never appear on your site because they don't want theives to see pics of the car, plate, etc. Nothing you can control obviously.

Sucks that print is going away but not surprising as their target audience tends to be on the younger side of the automotive community (as opposed to us dinosaurs who still like print magazines). I guess upper 30s qualifies at dinosaurs now

Sadly this happens across the community and isn't specific to JDMC and/or HT, although HT has (IMO) gone to complete shit.

The only "meets" I go to are track events and gatherings of friends. Coming from an Integra Type-R background all of those gatherings are "private" and no locations are posted for obvious reasons. It's incredibly silly that people have to hide nearly 20 year old Hondas for fear of theft.

Lol yeah coming from a GSR(type r clone)I had to give up meets real quick-usually just met dirty bags anyways.
I've got to say it's refreshing to be able to attend our SoFlo meets down here now.

What makes a person "from" honda-tech or jdmc? Forums and many events are fairly open. You can't exactly generalize and state that the "members" of certain groups are the trouble makers at events. Most of the people who cause issues aren't even registered on these sites, hence the difficulty in holding those people accountable. We are very strict on our meet rules, but of course occasionally some DB will show up and try to prove something. We have kicked out or banned people in those situations. But usually these kinds of things happen at the really big meets. I personally prefer the smaller low-key events which do several times per month (and never have had issues).
